I have some friends here, I’m doing ok, better than I would have in the UK.
But nobody is free on Christmas Day, I’m not having an existential crisis

I am only trying to be a friend, sorry if I sound a bit too direct but your reaction earlier made me think that the situation was a lot worse than it obviously is.

If life in Japan is good then fantastic, but you have said before what is stopping you coming back to the UK is the fact people will think you are a failure. WHO CARES? What did you do in the UK before you went to Japan?

Can someone change my name to Rachey The Red Nose Reindeer please :)

Oh Diddy that's so sad :( you can't spend Christmas day on your own!

I'm a bit ashamed to admit that I ordered some clothes off Shein the other week. I needed something for a Christmas party and I never get time to go to actual shops.

The clothes arrived, and apart from 2 items that are ok, what absolute dogshit their clothes are.

Also, eyebrow update. They've disappeared :(

Go for KFC, thats the thing right?

Christmas is over hyped anyway, I like the food and that but my best christmases were in Thailand on a beach and on a ski slope, basically not doing christmas.

Because we're (possibly) moving in the next couple of weeks I've no time for any of the bullshit and its great.

Nothing about Japan appeals to me. I would never want to go there on holiday, let alone live there.

But well done @Diddy, you're making it work!

Ron Jr is well into Anime and shit so really wants to go.

I would LOVE to go skiing in Japan, some of the slopes are insane.

Anyone want to buy a kidney? Well used but in working order.

LOOK AT IT!

It’s a bit of a bunfight to be honest and it’s not so near to me, so I reserved some chicken and a cake from the convenience store, and I’m going to watch the last Doctor Who episode I missed, which was the Capaldi Christmas special

In other bah ronbug news I haven't heard a single Christmas song yet.

To be fair some of the scenery is absolutely stunning.

But...some of the animal cruelty I see online puts me off. Plus I don't really like Japanese food.

Thailand was enough for me, and the animal cruelty there was appalling. I'm now very wary on where I go.

Is there much of an expat scene out there? When I lived in Spain I inevitably hung around with other FORENERS but as a result ended up befriending people I'd never normally meet, not even necessarily other Brits. Its one of the many things I miss about being abroad.

I mean they have different standards but slaughter practices in the UK aren't that great either.

My friend loves regailing me with the time she went to tokyo with work and got so fed up ordering things randomly off japanese menus she broke down crying and begging to go to Mcdonalds. I like a challenge.

Oh I know slaughter practices aren't good, but I barely eat meat. So I think I'd struggle with Japanese food. They also eat a lot of fish 🤢

I'd be like your friend!

Ron will you move abroad again?

Yes. 100% - we were supposed to be moving to Spain next year, then Ron Jr said he wanted to stay here, but then a few days ago he realised here = cold, dark, wet and fucking boring. So I'm working my charm again on the family.

Worse case scenario, we stay here while he's at high school and I buy a project of some sort in Spain. Was thinking a small apartment in Barcelona but I've got a notion to get something more inland, a cheap run down old cortijo/finca and make it into a bit of an eco house over the course of a few years which I can bugger off to when he goes to uni.

Yeah all the misunderstood pink-haired grrrls and incels come here, I tend not to hang out with them though, they’re usually just complaining about Japanese society and I don’t need all that mess

That sounds amazing!

My random dream was to move to Australia. I absolutely love it. But it won't happen.

:D I never scroll past the Moopy Current Affairs forum, I forget anything exists below that.

Hit the lightning bolt icon at the top beside the notifications bell icon. It’s LIFE CHANGING. It means you don’t need to scroll through each individual forum and you can see all new posts on the site.

I bought one thing from them and it's dreadful quality. Truly a "you get what you pay for" company...
