Nah, Madness were the absolute tits. They were closer to the ground that the wacky videos made them appear. I do feel that, in their regular-reunions phase, they have leaned into a certain caricature and there are definitely some things that have dated but they were thoughtful, clever songwriters with a wide range musically and lyrcially.
