The Saturdays singles survivor - Round 5

We lose two from the debut album this time round. First up is If This Is Love - the first in a long stream of mediocre lead singles backed up by a much stronger follow up (seriously did ALL of their albums follow this trajectory?) Nevertheless it's solid enough and was good enough for people to sit up and take note. I remember not even realising for a while they were two from S Club Juniors, the Satz very much felt like they had their own identity straight out the bat, moreso than the girlbands who came afterwards, tried too hard and flopped accordingly (hey Stooshe! hey Neon Jungle!)

Work is also cut and to be honest it's done well making it this far imo. Yeah it's a bawp, but there are better and the production is soooo 2008 it makes me want to get some nice chunky belts and a gypsy dress and and head out on a night on the town x

Only thing I can critique NGU on is that the lyric is not "slut drop - legs in the air" as I first heard it. I mean, can you imagine the dancefloor scenes (and injuries)?

Not Giving Up is TOP TIER SATZ. It’s a shame they waited to release it until they were beginning to wane. I love how the vocals are all shared equally and they each get a moment to shine.

Ego and Not Giving Up are the genuine side-splitters for me, but I'll accept All Fired Up as their club-banger megaton moment. Disco Love is stellar padding and Up's lustre has downsized over time, which just leaves the faceless ones.
