We’re usually a day or two behind you. We’ve had a bit of a minor heatwave here with plus degrees for a week or so.

Went to the gym without wearing any gloves this morning. :fist::shock:
 
Three degrees-3 here when I got to the gym at 6.

Question for financially minded Moopy. I have a pay review discussion today and I want to kick off a bit about how stagnant my salary was been over the past 3 years.

Does anyone know what the rate of inflation has been in the UK from January 2020 to now?

I had to do this last year, except in my case I saw a job lesser than mine being advertised for more than I was getting. Of course they tried the whole 'the advert was for up to X amount, we were never going to pay that'.
It's worth the fight though.
 
I found out recently that there are people on the salary band below me earning more money than me. Not only that, they all got a £1,000 cost of living payment this year and I was just on the lowest band that didn't qualify for it. It's absolute bollocks.

I'm really dense with this stuff though. So Inflation from 2021 to 2022 was 9.3%, and 2020 to 2021 was 2.5% = 11.8% total?

My salary since I started has only gone up by 5.5% so if so I'm definitely being screwed.
 
Well, the argument is that the whole damned world is being screwed right now to be fair...
 
Oh I know, I'm not claiming to be the worst off by any means, but I work for a fucking BANK, there's really no justification for them to be paying me under the rate of inflation...

What you probably want to do is times your salary by 1.093 and then the result by 1.025 to see what you should be earning if your pay had risen in line with inflation.

Thanks both. As expected that’s a fair bit lower than what I’m on.

I also think it’s kind of a crock that the salaries for my role are still London-weighted considering we’ve all been full time working from home for the past two years and I know for a fact that some of the London staff have since moved elsewhere :D
 
I'd be kicking off, if I were you.

Ms Ron just got a 10% rise in a job she started in May. They also gave everyone £150 over the winter to help with bills etc, and shes got her standard review when she hits 12 months.

It almost made me jealous of people with proper jobs.

Where I live is London commuter belt. Far enough away from the South for the house prices to be cheaper, close enough to make the daily commute feasible.
We now have a load of Londoners living here, getting paid more than us and slowly driving up the property prices so they’re the only fuckers who can afford them.

See Manchester. We need to move, and to rent the same kind of house we have now we're looking north of 2k, closer to 3, and thats not even in the city. All the London cunts are moving here and its pissing off a lot of natives.
 
Island house prices have gone crazy since covid, Cowes prices have risen more than nearly all places in the UK apparently. Which is really annoying as that's where we want to move to, but Londoners are putting all the prices up.

Having said that, my brother and his wife have moved here from London and I'm happy about that. But they're contributing to the price increase.
