Another three bite the dust, with the underperforming second single from Elbow Beach and two underrated releases from her recent comeback Heavy Love

Beautiful Inside
The follow-up to Lou's highest charting solo single 2 Faced, Beautiful Inside continued her gentle push into more (relatively) edgy material, featuring a prominent sample from the Wu Tang Klan. I remember it being quite positively reviewed, and a bit of budget was spent on the (now dated) CGI effects in the video. Ultimately, it didn't really take, although it did have the misfortune of coming out in a VERY competitive mid-November chart period. A #13 peak and swift drop signalled an abrupt end of the Elbow Beach era, which in fairness might have been for the best. That album really was not overburdened with potential chart smashes.

LOVED the insane single cover though :D

Lead Me On
Following her glorious comeback with emerging fan favourite STRETCH, Louise roped in Clean Bandit for the second proper single from Heavy Love. Now, is this a cast-off from their own recording sessions that she got on the cheap? Almost certainly, but it's a very pleasant update of her sound nontheless.

Hurt
Another Heavy Love release, and my personal favourite. To steal a line from another VoR/Iguana endorsed diva who recently made a comeback, it's very BRIGHT AND BREEZY, which is really where Louise's music sits best, for me.

Moving on, let's lose another THREE

She has such a reputation for being a crap singer and while she’s not amazing. She’s perfectly adequate for pop music, and her voice is quite distinctive I think.

She’s no great singer, but the two or three times I’ve seen her she is perfectly capable.

I guess it’s some of the earlier singles clearly have much bigger backing vocalists which obviously aren’t her.

Undivided Love is great! Well, the single mix at least (OOOH I WANT YOU!).

I do love Undivided Love (let's be real, I love everything) but I do think the verses and bridge are a fair bit stronger than the chorus.
