Welcome to 1996 UK Official Charts Number One Hits Survivor! All the big hitters of 1996 will be competing in this competition over January and February this year. :disco:

First round! In this round you are voting to EVICT UP TO 10 SONGS you least want to move on to the next round. Voting will be open for 48 hours, let's go!

Even the MALE SHIT this year is quite good.

Voted off the ones I don't know and the utter tripe. Dunblane falls into the latter category but my conscience got in the way. Next round doe.

It was quite a relief to get to the Robson & Jerome songs, because before that I was struggling to vote for anything.

WHAT A YEAR.

The fucking CHEEK of Robson and Jerome releasing a TRIPLE A SIDE as their SWAN SONG.

It plated at my school leavers party in CLACTON and I've been obsessed ever since.

Same here. And I just heard these for the first time I think.

Also I quite like Return of the Mack.

I know, I know, but it's a hot slab of nostalgia for me. That whole period of me on revision leave for my GCSEs and school being over was GLORIOUS and MTV or Radio 1 was on all day and I KNEW ALL THE SONGS.

Peter Andre's second #1 of the year has to be one of the blandest things ever commited to record!

That rotten lizard seems to have accidentally voted for Breathe AND Fastlove. Will have to be put in prison, sadly. :(

I noted he voted for both George Michael songs. Might block.

This is one of the most stacked years ever. It was hard to narrow it down to just 10. My word.

Oh it seems I misread that its to EVICT. I wondered why some of the only bad songs were getting votes 🙈

I feel bad voting for Dunblane, but it's not something I've ever wanted to listen to since 1996.

Omg Gina :disco:

Almost all airtight until it whoopee cushions it out with R&J, Barlow and the Lightning Seeds (who were otherwise terrific on the singles front). Ugh, this thread makes me want to steal my sister's Just 17 magazines again.

I quite liked Flava at the time, although I had to listen on Spotify to remind myself of that.

I love George Michael but Jesus to a Child is simply YAWN INDUCING. He followed it up with the OUTRAGEOUSLY AMAZING Fast Love though so he more than made up for it.
