those who tried the leak have raved about Ghost and it does sound like QUITE a banger. the europop vibes are severe!

love this half-arsed "walking around in a blazer on a chess board" visual. the budget's DONE.

I'd rather have some toast 🎶

I mean it's no ELLA HENDERSON but I'm liking it regardless

Excuse Me Reaction GIF by Desi Perkins

Apparently she's now signed to Scooter Braun or his company or something?

get outta my HEAD
get outta my CAR
get outta my BED
get outta my HEART

this song is such post-Drive soundtrack 80s synthy fantasia meets 00s serbian eurovision slapper that I just CAN'T! you'll all DIE when you hear it :disco:

this is a bit of a sultry bop. it's not an obvious single but I think it shows a different side to her, as a popstar, that the previous singles haven't... the little post-chorus hook is so bubblegum-y and unexpected.

I need this album on Spotify so I can stop listening to leaks on dbree 🫠

I'm completely obsessed with One of Us. she's just a great popstar, she elevates songs with her voice.

I also like that you THINK the bad/indifferent "one of us" is the boyfriend until the last line of the chorus reveals that it's HER :disco: plot twist!

It’s like Girl In The Mirror part two :disco:

So is this a single or just song 14 of the album she’s leaking in advance? Queen is so confusing.

Ava Max hailing herself as some kind of POP Goddess is all I needed to read today

The night her hit song “Sweet But Psycho” came out, Ava Max almost quit music.

It was 2018 and she’d been at home in her Los Angeles apartment. Her mind started to race: She needed a breakthrough song, and this could be the one – if only it would take off.

“No one knows this but I had a mental breakdown,” she says now, almost five years later. She got down on her knees and started praying, even though she’s not religious. “I’m like, ‘God, please, if you’re listening. I need to pay for my gas. My parents, I want to buy them a house. I just want to help the people I love and I want to perform on big stages and I want to have fans and I want people to relate to my music.’ I was yelling this at the top of my lungs,” she recalls “I said, ‘If “Sweet but Psycho” does nothing, I’m done.’”

Ava Max remembers that she started to cry, but she quickly got up, wiped her face, and told herself, “Oh my god, bitch. Get yourself together.”

And God listened and before she knew it, it had racked up 1.4 billion streams.

Many artists were veering into R&B, but Max wanted to double down on upbeat, pure pop. “‘Sweet but Psycho’ kind of paved the way for pop music again,” she says.

She'll be releasing her new album on Frday.

She’s switched up her signature “Max Cut,” an asymmetrical hairstyle that’s a shoulder-length bob on one side and long on the other. “I just wanted to have fun for a second,” she says. “But I definitely think she’s always going to be a part of me… It’s not gone forever.”

Oh thank god!

I’ve always admired how creative she is, it’s like alchemy now she creates hooks out of other songs’ established hooks

:eyes:

Listening now. I was gonna go to bed but it’s only 40 mins long, and I can’t wait till the morning!

And the dancing is DONE!

What an album. It’s like being catapulted at light speed into a world of pure joy. I’ll have another listen tomorrow for a full review, as most of the songs are quite short so they’ll need a few listens to really sink in but I think Sleepwalker is my favourite track on the album. That synth instrumental!

I don’t think I’ve heard an unashamedly pure pop album like this for a good few years.
