Estonia 2023: Alika - Bridges

Have to say a personal reason I'd quite like to keep the current system is that there's basically free money being handed out on trees in some of the betting market opportunities when stuff like this gets through a televote semi and has a jury vote waiting for it in the finals - 6/1 to come top 10 when it was clearly headed for a big panel jury haul.

Another top10 in the bag.

The song grew on me a bit, as much as it wouldn't have made my final.

Still can't even start with that fringe, though.

Yeah it was obvious the juries would eat it up, but also crucially, she didn't have female ballad competition whatsoever that I recall (I don't count Armenia!) which must have made a difference.

THERE'S ALWAYS ONE isn't there!
Alika joins the likes of TAMARA TODEVSKA as this year's surprise Jury SMASH! ANY OPINIONS??

I'm normally WELL UP for a bit of miserable caterwauling at Eurovision by a wide-eyed (and possibly feral) pale-faced woman from the East, but this was just FAR TOO po-faced and joyless for me.

I thought it would pick up points as there is certainly a contingent of people that will relate to it (unlikely to be found in the UK mind), but it really did OVER PERFORM!

Not to burn a world of bridges or anything, but I actually like this quite a lot.

Stylistically, she mostly reminded me of a young Sophie Habibis or Ruby off EastEnders. Icons only.
