ASFM meets knockout elimination

Dreamt about this last night and it just came back to me and it’s probably a crap idea but…

A mix between the knockout contests and ASFM

Based on a theme, each poster puts up their favourite tv theme tune or Pokémon or flag or Eurovision entry of the 90s or whatever I guess

Then they are tied to that choice and eliminated as per the knockout format until there is a winner

If it was Pokémon. Do a thread for it asking for people to put forward what they think is the best and let battle commence

Kakuna, Rattata and Pidgey out round one. Then reveal the posters who chose them

Jigglypuff Vs Pysduck finale. Winner and posters revealed

I like the sound of this, it could lead to some pleasingly nerdy arguments :disco:
 
I did the knockout format for the playlist comp and it worked quite well, although I did overegg it towards the end and made it too much EFFORT for people. But the contestants really got involved and did great.

If you keep it simple, it'll work.

Keeping it simple is the key for sure. Makes it more likely I’d run one and probably some others

Playlists are great fun to judge and compete with but once you have to start rating individual songs on a regular basis, it gets a bit much for some. I think it worked fine for the most part during lockdown, but it would have to be simpler if a tournament was done again. But ASFM in that format would be easy to do really.

Just to make it clear I wasn’t being just being bitchy it was ME who dropped out half way through :D
 
For those of us who are not into children’s programmes; what exactly does Pokemon mean in the above sense?

You just put forward which Pokémon would win a knockout contest, not based on its stats but more so popularity/cuteness

That’s my thinking on it anyway

First come, first served to get the best one?
