Ace of Base - deluxe reissues

Anyway...

  1. Happy Nation
  2. Da Capo :disco:
  3. Flowers
  4. The Bridge

It is close between Da Capo and Flowers, but after spending quite a bit of time caught up in an AoB whirl over the last month but I am in full agreement with this rank. I haven't owned Da Capo previously but it is quite a joy and I am particularly obsessed with Change With The Light, The Juvenile and the title track (gone with the wind I am not :disco:).

And the quality of the stuff they had stuffed at the back of a drawer, these two back to back on Hidden Gems 2:

The voice of an alien and her mind like a raindrop :disco:

Just saw Hidden Gems Volume 2 was released this year, currently ploughing through some delightfully dramatic nonsense

26 CDs!
341 tracks!
7.75 remixes per song!
26 versions of All That She Wants!

I love these super comprehensive box sets.

I've given up buying CD boxsets anyway, but that would have been beyond me for Ace of Base. But good on them if they can make it sell!

I was only wondering the other day if "Everytime It Rains (I GET WET)" had been remixed - and 12 mixes later I now know.

Too bad the band hate it though. Jonas said it's the song that finally broke them up, because the record label wanted Jenny off the track and it to be a Linn solo. The rotters.

I got the box set but it’s great that it’s on streaming. I think some of the tracks are exclusive to the box set but this should keep any fan happy. :disco:

The Jenny version was supposed to be on the box set but they took it off at the last minute. Clive Davis basically forced Linn to record it and she did it in one take.

Sad there's no raved up mix of song of the century Young and Proud.

I'd love to hear that! Uncle Clive did interfere quite a bit it seems, or at least Jonas has been quite vocal about his meddling. They can't complain too much though, he turned The Sign/Happy Nation into a much better album.

Not sure Flowers/Cruel Summer was much improved though, that reworking of Life Is A Flower just doesn't work for starters.
