Tina Turner DEAD

:(:(:(

A true legend. A survivor. Be grateful she got her flowers in life because there was a time when she was forgotten and barely scraping by. Inimitable. RIP.
Yes, her commercial rebirth in the 80s was utterly joyous - as much as I only retrospectively knew of her history.

And hard to imagine anything similar happening commercially in the chart climate today.

Wonder what they’ll say at the musical tonight, since it was announced just 5 mins after they went on stage. They’d find out in the interval.

I didn't realise just how much she had been through in recent years. Gosh that article is triggering. :(

This is all really far more upsetting than I'd imagined, considering I don't think of myself as a particularly big fan of her music. But I think a lot of people were fans of, and had respect and much affection for the person.

I’m absolutely gutted hearing this news. I have went to watch her live many times in the past and she really was a performer like no bother. RIP beautiful lady. :(

Same here.

She and the Bee Gees were the only ones on my bucket list that I never got to see. I kept saying “next time” and it soon became too late :(

I read at the end of last year on something that she was suffering from cancer.

I agree. She represented something that went beyond the music, a triumph of the human spirit, the refusal to be beaten down by the industry and by her awful fucking first husband. She somehow found the strength to keep going and, eventually, an audience came and recognised her, loved her. Oh, for an ounce of that strength, that dignity.

Sad news. However she had an amazing career and she had a fantastic comeback in the 80s and went on to live a very happy life after Ike, and for that I am very happy for her, and therefore I can’t be too devastated. RIP Queen. X
