Tina Turner DEAD

It’s is hard to say it sometimes with a straight face because we all say it so often about our favourites but in this case it’s absolutely and undeniably true:

Tina Turner was one of the greatest to ever do it.

The voice, the look, the moves, the attitude, the tenacity, the legacy, the insane collection of music… and truly one of the most successful of all time. Her comeback in the 80s was relatively short lived in America and many of them don’t realise she was selling out stadiums from Tokyo to São Paulo well into the noughties.

She was one of the waves of icons in the mid 80s alongside Madonna, MJ, Prince, George, Bruce, Lionel et al that were just ridiculous megastars on another level. You don’t really get it so much anymore. They all seemed to come along at once.

Everyone should watch the film with Angela Basset.

RIP to one of the all time Best.

I mean, you have to trawl through a LOT of images on Googleimages to find that one if you just googled "Tina Turner" like a normal person so she clearly sought it out deliberately

She's a headteacher of 'the strictest school in Britain' (self-proclaimed). She was fired as a senior leader from a school about 15 years ago for making a big political speech at a Tory conference in which she said that all schools in this country are failing. Then set up her own school in Wembley called Michaela school where they ban children from eating at lunch time if their parents haven't topped up their dinner money and other lovely things like that.

This sounds like elitist hell. People who love yelling "our schools are failing" are the worst.
 
Is it weird not to feel sad at her death? She was one of the biggest musical icons of our generation and the one before, but all I feel is love, respect and a sense of peace. It’s hard to explain.
 
Genuinely, and I've said this for years, the biggest musical regret of my life is not getting tickets to see her on what turned out to be her final tour in 2009.

This truly is high drag.

 
She’d definitely my biggest live music regret, alongside Annie Lennox in about 2003.

Although I would have preferred to have watched Tina in one of her 90s tours when she was still hot and not quite a legacy act yet…
 
Sad to hear. She really almost felt like a beyond reality person who would somehow outlive everyone forever.

My mum is a fan and we took her to see her at Tina’s Manchester gig on her final tour. Mum had never seen her before and is not an outwardly emotional person but when Tina came on stage and the audience stood up mum stayed in her seat and I could see she was crying. It was moving to see that sort of connection that had been made.
