In an effort to please @Lucille and talk about something else for a change, this song is all but confirmed (by a reliable source) as second single. Described as Say Something :disco: meets All The Lovers, it has the people over at Say Hey and Popjustice in a tizz because she's not releasing a follow-up in the vein of Padam and they are sure it will go the way of all her other FLOPS.

I can't say I would mind something different. The success of Padam Padam is not going to be easy to repeat anyway.

If it turns out, Tension ends up being the second single, you can delete this thread and me.

Can't wait. I hope it's something that :padam: can dance to.

Do we really think it WILL be 'soon'?

If it's true that that we are getting a mix this week and another next, it seems clear to me that the label are actively trying to avoid ACR kicking in too soon, and I don't see why they would do that if they are planning another single proper (well, whatever that is), because the likelihood of it taking off while Padam is still charting highly is minimal.

I don't think we'll get anything new 'til end of July or beginning of August, earliest

If you look at the Disco release schedule, it was

Say Something 23 July
Magic 24 September
I Love It 23 October
Disco 6 November

I can imagine that there was a not dissimilar plan in place for Tension, with a possible second single in a week or two, and then a promotional one a couple of weeks before the album. But the Padamic must have changed plans.

I think we'll get another single mid/late August.

I think one more proper single, early september before the album drops, and I think they should go similar vein ie Tension the track. Then whack out this or something more MOR as the third single.

I bet BMG are wishing they were able to bring forward the release of the album to capitalise on Padam Padam.

I bet BMG weren't even aware that Padam would become "this" big right?

Yes, there's a Variety article doing the rounds where her label say this.
Again, Variety reporting she's the FIRST over 50 female artist to get on radio 1 playlist like EVER which is annoying.

Padam is not going anywhere fast, so I think with another single and then a push of both tracks by the time the album drops, they are onto a winner. I would think Padam used for the television/radio ads for the album and a big performance, perhaps of both songs on album release week. I think her profile is so much bigger this time that they don't need to bother with chucking out instant grats. If they keep more of the album until release date, I think that will help the album in general. They did say in the Variety interview that they have a selection of tracks for a long singles campaign if needed. Although they are not going to say 'Oh no we have no more singles' are they. But they seem very confident with the campaign.

This gives me goosebumps.
So many moments I love.
At the moment that New Orderesque baseline that keeps coming in, just amazing :disco:

I said it in the first listen thread, but this really is the climax of Robyn's Honey, rolled in glitter and sprinkled with Kylie, isn't it?

It's one of those songs which just makes life better.

#3 on NMFriday, and up to #68 on Apple Music. Surely has a chance to chart this week, and then I imagine a full release in a month or two?

#4 on iTunes. Assume radio two will add it tomorrow if the physicals are shipped from next Friday?

Well I think the extended is pretty glorious. It just feels bigger and love the slightly unexpected direction the intro takes.

Yeah I feel that actually works a little better than the standard version.

Oh I saw them at the Hoopla Weekender in January - TREMENDOUS!

New to Radio 2 A-list this week.

It's probably academic, but interesting that they (presumably?) shipped all the singles before it peaked at radio.

Apparently there’s another batch the week of the 8th…along with Padam and Tension vinyls?

It all seems like a bit of a mess with the single but I guess it’s all semantics really, no third single is ever going to take off outside her normal base so as long as it gets a bit of airplay and hopefully a video it’ll be job done?

Apparently someone is skating to Hold On To Now on ratings behemoth Dancing On Ice tonight, so that will probably kick it back up iTunes.
