I just read about this. God I hate so much. great piece from Owen Jones about this

why do people who are essentially APOLITICAL think they should be the one to run the country? you can't lead while believing in nothing, just saying what you think people want to hear. I can't determine any difference between him and Boris if he really never believed in any of the pledges he made. fucking arsehole.

Why is he like this? He KNOWS it's bullshit. Everyone around him KNOWS it's bullshit. Can't he, for once, just be RIGHT instead of RIGHT WING

WHY does he insist on "wading in" to every single issue when it always ends up like this!

I doubt he brought up the ‘issue’ - it was likely a question specifically asked by The Telegraph.

In which case the answer is a polite version of "You and I both know that is a bullshit story and no one is seriously identifying as a cat, and it is fucking shameful to use this to attack one of the most marginalised groups of people in the country, you cunt"

I’d have to look into this but I imagine the short term goal of this is to protect renters (something i’d much rather they did directly). I’m no fan of private landlords but if they all suddenly all gave up tomorrow then I wouldn’t immediately be able to buy a house… i’d just be homeless.

To be honest it’s a bit pointless Labour saying this as any market corrections will have occurred well before them getting into power, but why they feel the need to be so vocally PRO LANDLORD is baffling.

I think there should be some form of state intervention to stop tenants being kicked out, and the property being bought up by a massive letting company.

I'd give Local Authorities first refusal on buying Buy to Let properties, at market value, and with the proviso that they keep any existing tenants (and provide funding to allow LAs to make said purchases)

RED WALL

I;d be prepated to be allowed 2 actually - there are some people who co-mortgage with an elderly parent or a child.

I think it's fair to assume that Rachel Reeves has already cooked up a five point plan to put up a PROTECTIVE RING around buy-to-let landlords. The most persecuted minority.

they are deranged. Starmer and Reeves are terrible people and barely any better as politicians.

A Labour source told me Keir Starmer said to Ed Miliband after a PowerPoint presentation briefing, "Your tits look amazing in that low-cut top babe, but honestly I'd appreciate it if you didn't upstage me at conference and just went for showing off legs this year? Thanks". MORE AS WE GET IT

They're just taking the piss now - what kind of "Labour Party" is this? New New Labour, just the Tories with a red rosette.

they're a fucking joke. if the Lib Dems had bothered to install a charismatic leader they would be eating into Labour's polling numbers because nobody is passionate about Keir himself. he's deeply uninspired and uninspiring. and Labour's messaging and policy announcements are unhinged right now. there's not long left to course-correct before they really have to commit to challenging a general election as Diet Tory. disastrous thinking all round.

I mean, I’m frustrated by it too, but they are currently miles ahead in pretty much every poll going…

Every ENGLISH poll

They’re still considered likely to take a fair chunk out of the SNP, aren’t they?

Either way, I think from Labour’s perspective it’s only a disastrous strategy if it doesn’t end with Keir as Prime Minister by 2025. And unless something very big happens, that looks very likely indeed.

SNP are still going to have the highest vote share, but yes, Labour are making in roads.
