Joanne Rowling and other TERFs

You can take any topic, subject it to 4 years off tabloid lies and bullshit and get a result like this. They KNOW that. It's why they do it. It makes them feel powerful.

The ACTUAL STATS show a very mixed picture. But crucially, things getting worse. This chart is really depressing.

And not by a small amount either in some cases. The swing is massive.

I think we need to be very aware of how quickly that swing is happening and saying ‘oh but there are more counter protests at TERF rallies’ is so dangerous.

Also it is DEFINITELY a minority on our side which is why the Conservatives AND the Labour Party are pushing anti-trans rhetoric in their policies. Both of then have seen that this is a way to win votes - that only happens when the majority are on that side.

This isn't necessarily true. Remember it is a small group of people in the UK who have actual power. Actual swing voters. And Labour is TERRIFIED of fucking up with that particular demographic, much to everyone with morals and/or consciences chagrin.

I appreciate the danger of complacency, but I also don’t think it’s helpful to perpetuate the idea that the majority of society hates trans people. I can’t imagine that does any good for the mental health of trans people who are already facing enough abuse and negativity.

Treating these miserable freaks as the fringe loons they are disempowers them. Taking them seriously only legitimises them. We’ve seen that time and time again.

I think it is a misnomer to suggest that this is a massive vote winner. We worked with a polling company at work recently to measure what issues matter to people - only 2% of people thought “the trans debate” was a significant issue facing the country.

Of course when YouGov puts questions in front of people it forces them to think about it, but I do believe that it remains the case that most people are generally not thinking about this on a daily basis. I don’t think social media is a good barometer of overall public opinion - people are such miserable cunts online. You could put up a video of puppies frolicking and you’d get someone complaining underneath it.

And yes, I agree with VoR that it isn’t particularly helpful to be this miserable about the state of affairs is unless it is accompanied by action to try and win back hearts and minds. I get that it doesn’t come from a bad place but it does make me feel defeated.

And the swing voters are generally the CENTRISTS.... that's concerning if the centrists are anti-trans.

Well this is definitely true :D

It certainly doesn't come from a bad place and I'm sorry if it's made you feel defeated. It comes from a place of frustration.

I think the Twitter misrepresentation feeds into itself. I'm an example of "one ally less" on Twitter - I'm still very much an ally (try my best to be at least) but because it tends to be a Terf infested shithole, and since Musk himself has jumped on the anti trans bandwagon with great enthusiasm, I left. Couldn't stay in good conscience any more, on top of all the existing shit there. So as we leave it becomes a more distilled right wing shithole.

I’m going to come out and say I didn’t know trans women could breastfeed until all of 12 hours ago.

Can someone explain how it works?

I’m clueless about the whole thing but my immediate reaction is just doesn’t seem necessary?

I wonder if cis men can breastfeed too? If that’s more convenient/doable for the family

I don’t know what my opinion is here as I know nothing about it, and i imagine that’s true for 99% of people, and yet all of Twitter has decided they must have a solid stance on this issue right away, and that approach just creates the absolute worst discourse, rather than everyone just agreeing they have no clue about the subject and maybe need time to learn about it before forming an opinion.

I started reading up on the trans breastfeeding thing a few days ago, but found it a bit iffy and then worried I was being TERFy (:() so I decided to PUT IT TO ONE SIDE FOR NOW

I do think WHY BOTHER, when you can chuck some nutritious nestle down the infant’s throat, put your feet up, pour yourself a large Tia Maria and watch Eastenders instead.

Why do I keep seeing the phrase "BONUS HOLE" in discussions about trans people? Is it a transphobic remark?

Basically there was some NHS guidance years ago about use of terminology that might be useful for staff when treating trans men and it included that term, and transphobes are (of course) trying to make it out to be something that's getting forced on everyone and the loony trans agenda are trying to erase the word vagina etc etc.

I have no idea why it was ever used in an NHS context. I’ve heard trans men use it as a JOKE, but TERFs are so humourless that everything is taken at face value.

I have only ever heard it in a porn context. It feels weird to have ever been in the NHS.

Not that I would ever look at filthy top shelf magazines or websites, of course.

Glinner calls David Tennant a "groomer" for wearing a T-shirt in support of trans kids:

Tennant could probably sue over this, right? God knows Linehan is quick enough to threaten legal action when people call him a transphobe.

I would be interesting to see what happened if someone did sue him...would he finally get the attention he craves from K K Krowling? After all, she was offering to pay for Kellie Wotsit to get the lawyers in.

Oh god I'd love my Crush Doctor (not to be confused with Doctor Crusher) to sue this fuckwit out of existence

The absolute state of this. Like a Historical Battle Reenactment society, but EVEN LESS CHIC

Hopefully also further evidence that the current UK transphobia level is a relatively short lived phenomena - because you hardly ever encounter young TERFs, do you.
