Kylie - Padam Padam (1st single, May 18th) (3 Viewers)

She was on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen last night. He’s clearly a fan, so it’s quite a good interview.

Also a hint that she’s up for doing another Anti Tour? :disco:

I'm sure it will happen at some point in the future. It was so well received and has almost mythical status. And she'll always have an audience for it.

If not before, I can well imagine she could decide to pull it out if an album underperforms. It'll whip fans into a complete frenzy.

Added to 17 US pop stations this week, ninth highest. Still three weeks until the official add date, so it’s very promising.

Netherlands

#35 (airplay)
#136 (Spotify)

previous daily Spoti peak was #175 - is the Euro takeover starting? :disco:

People still ask "what does that mean?" on grindr, so I guess that's your answer.

:hostage:

I assume that’s an effort to hold streaming steady and avoid ACR? May need more than that though.

I thought there was a whiff of DefensiveKylie when Andy Cohen talked about performing Padam Padam live on the Watch What Happens series. And her comment about what people on set may have taken before going on air did make me wonder if that was a dig too (since it made me recall Kathy Griffin's accusations). She is looking radiant this campaign anyway - I don't want this moment in Kylie time to end.

How do you mean? I thought she was taking the praise and genuinely warmed by it? Although I did quickly whizz through on YT skipping the Adam parts so maybe I missed something

Please explain ACR in one line Devz?

Bit more than one line but to roughly summarise:

Essentially once you hit week nine in the chart, if you have decreased in streams the three prior weeks you then get your streams halved from week ten onwards. If you only decreased week 8 and 9 then you are fine on week ten but will have them halved from week eleven if you now have three weeks on decline and so forth.

Thats why that Rema track went 11-36 or whatnot a few weeks back, Sunlight dropped from like 9 to 30, or why Calvin and Ellie are down 4-16 in the midweeks or whatever the positions are. Next week is week nine for Kylie, so if she decreases in total streams next week she will then hit that on week ten.

So if they can increase streams next week she will get another three weeks on normal and extend her top 20/40 run by another three, but if not, next week will likely be her last in the top 40.

wow charts are fucking confusing wtf

The US should take note and get rid of the Rema track and Flowers.

TBF Calm Down is on its 45th week in the UK chart and it’s still top 40 despite its streams being halved :D

I think in the States once you drop below #20 or #50 or something after 52 weeks you are banished forever from the chart.

Ideally a mix of both rules would work a bit better for keeping things relatively current without punishing genuine successes.

I really hope there is an Initial Talk remix

K - k - k - KYLIE
P - p - p - PADAM

Ah right, I think I am with you
Which is why they are chucking out another remix next week, although as you say, it may need more than that, like a PERF.

I don't think he meant anything by it, but even Adam seems to pick up on it by helping clear her singing live name with the compliment. I mean, it was a faint, fleeting sense I got from her - could be wrong :D

Is it just me or is this getting a bit boring now? I mean, "I'm wearing a red dress, let's try and go viral!".

It all feels a bit calculated and dreary at this point.

OBVIOUSLY NOT THE SONG.
It’s social media. Of course it’s calculated. All of it is.

The whole thing was calculated from the word go.

Of course it was, but there comes a "jump the shark" point or a point of mass market tedium. I feel it's reached the latter when you have This Morning presenters putting an entirely pointless TikTok- focused, marketing department dreamt up video on the interweb just to jump on a bandwagon that is already a few months old.
,

It's just a bit 'oh look, it's another one' now, isn't it? I can't say they bore me, but they certainly don't excite.

But then the next reel was this, so it has brought me something very pleasurable indeed.

The original viral marketing was to get the gays and the hipsters on board. That worked a charm and now it's trickling down. If your mum's favourite TV presenter is now doing a half-arsed Padam reference on This Morning, that's actually a brilliant sign that the song has truly crossed over to the masses. Might be a bit dull for us now, but it's 100% a feature of this campaign, not a bug.

This. Plus it just helps with the exposure, doesn't it?

I wasn't saying this was a DISASTROUS BMG MARKETING PLOY FFS. Just that it's got to the saturation point that it's just a bit BORING.

Christ, you can't say a word against PADAM without being LAUNCHED ON!

Also, I cannot remember the last time I played the song...which is interesting. As much as I love it.
