RATE A SANDWICH

10 McD CHICKEN LEGEND (dead now, sadly)
08 BK CHICKEN ROYALE
08 KFC CHICKEN SANDWICH
06 McCHICKEN SANDWICH (while sober)
17 McCHICKEN SANDWICH (while drunk / hungover)

Its beyond being rated as you would know if you bothered to familiarise yourself with section 3 clause iv of the crisp rate charter. 🙄

I bow to you.

But FYI section 3 is smothered in chip fat and mayonaisse so I couldn't even if I WANTED TO

Wow, I haven't had this in about 15 years, at the very least. Good though but I'm sure it used to contain mayo.

Why is my cucumber sandwich getting so many angry reactions, it's a cucumber and bread :o

Are the C******** range sandwiches in the shops yet? Could really go for one of them today.

Definitely in Asda. I had the Boxing Day one on Tuesday.

(7/10, coleslaw surplus to requirements)

I thought we were rating generic sandwich fillings as opposed to particular brands?

Because M&S would triumph in every contest if that is the case.

You're correct, we're rating sandwiches as a concept, not the brand behind a range of sandwiches. Please stay on track.

I will further investigate the exact ingredients of said supermarket's Boxing Day sandwich and then report back.

Banana Sandwich

Yeah I went there. Is there a more divisive sandwich than the banana sandwich? Probably not. This sandwich draws the line of the great british class divide. Don't like it? You're a tory, plain and simple. Just looking at the photo is enough to elicit childhood memories of sunny days, sraped knees and your Nans dedication to smoking 40 Embassy a day to get you a walkie talkie set with her Embassy Points. Probably a hate crime to make one now but it wouldn't stop me, although my instincts say that it wouldn't taste half as good in 2023 as it did in 1989. Nostalgic 8/10.

Some sandwiches aren't for everyone Rachel but I support your right to love the sandwich you love.

Yes, especially as a Toastie!

Ron's banana sandwich has reminded me of a childhood sandwich I loved. Don't judge, we were poor.

Brown sugar sandwich. 7/10 for nostalgia.

Has anyone tried a Monte Cristo? I had one in the States over 25 years ago and then went through a period of making them myself.

The concept is QUITE PERVERSE! :o

A depraved 7/10 (only the Americans could come up with something quite as ludicrous).

Just plain banana? Not even some peanut butter or honey/jam?

Cucumbers are 96% water. So theoretically you are endorsing a WATER SANDWICH. I know people thought they were a bit upper class in the 70’s/80’s but in 2023 let’s look at what it actually is. A SOGGY WATER SANDWICH.

NEXT.

We’re not all (North) American :oi:

Bananas are sweet enough and need to be on their own.

To be FAIR I’m not the best person to judge as I don’t have a sweet tooth for things like honey or jam or peanut butter anyway.

But plain banana butty - 9/10

Cucumber sandwiches never went away. They are a constant and staple in Afternoon Tea menus in any hotel or restaurant in the UK. And you get to pay a small fortune for the privilege!

That said I have no time for them. Cucumber as a sandwich ingredient yes (Hoisin Duck for example - essential) but on its own -

The subject of controversy due to the absence of cranberry sauce but the subject of joy among those who dislike this and prefer the onion relish they've plumped for instead. Is it festive? Not really. Does it spark a joyful fountain of tastebud tickles? No. Is it perfectly acceptable and a match to the mood of a dull Wednesday afternoon when you feel all you really deserve is cold sausages on slightly soggy bread? Yes. Yes it does.

7.5/10
