Catatonia recently released a FIVE DISC compilation which made no reference to this #36 hit ever existing. :D




I can only assume it was a product of Cerys' peak GAK YEARS, but I find it quite harmlessly fun really. At worst a bit naff. Hilarious that on a compilation featuring more CDs than they released albums they still refused to give it any space whatsoever though. :basil:

Although it was one of her biggest hits in the U.S., Petula Clark was never keen on "My Love". She only performs it in medleys at her live shows.

Has J. Lo disowned Play? It’s not on her GH but did it make her vegas “residency”?
 
A lot of Heart's output from the 1980s they've abandonned and prefer not to acknowledge. The only ones still on their setlists of recent seem to be "What About Love" "These Dreams" and "Alone".

From the 90s, Ann Wilson of the group particularly hates "All I Wann Do Is Make Love To You" (which reached US #2 and UK #8). :D
 
This one for Kelly Clarkson, especially since according to her the post-production changed it so it sounded like "Halo":


She still performs it but Kelly Clarkson has stated she strongly dislikes it because of Dr. Luke's involvement being pushed by her label making her feel icky:

Notably, all live performances of this of recent are performed to a sped up beat or remixed. She also isn't too keen on talking about her early albums.
 
Prince did tease audiences with the intro every now and then but ultimately would never play Darling Nikki due to the sexual content along with many others.

He’d also change lyrics to earlier songs when performing, strangely he changed lyric of DMSR (“get busy in the middle of a restaurant” in place of “wear underwear”) which made it sound more ”inappropriate” to my ears.

 
I presumed Björk had completely disowned this as it’s such an anomaly in her discography, although a quick look shows she randomly performed it in 2008

Annoyingly only this shoddy 1 minute clip exists of the performance considering it’s probably the last time she’ll ever perform it!

 
Alison Moyet HATES this song. And it's such a shame as it's one of her best. Yes the lyrics are basic AF and probably doesn't fit in with the tone of the rest of her music (I don't think she wrote it herself) but it's such a BIG POP NUMBER.

 
She hates this one even more. If I remember correctly she described it as ‘a cynical shower’ on her website at one point.

 
Alanis famously likes to pretend her first two Canada-only teeny bopper albums simply don't exist. They're not on streaming, never on any compilations and for all intents and purposes JLP is her "debut".

She very occasionally wheels out the debut single Too Hot but only ever when performing in Canada. She did it last year (which was the first time since 2014, which in turn was the first time since 2005!)

 
That's a shame, because they're my 2 favourite Alison Moyet songs!
 
Belinda famously hates Always Breaking My Heart- it's just about the only single she doesn't perform live, despite it being a top ten hit over here, and she slagged it off in her autobiography. She says A Woman and A Man is her least favourite album as she was off her tits, but does quite a lot of the other stuff from that album live, so it's clearly just this she REALLY hates:

 


She hated this one. It was her fifth consecutive US top 10 hit (wasn’t top 40 in UK though).

She’s either reconsidered or has bowed down to pressure and reintroduced it into her live sets later on.

Personally I think it’s great!

I'm less devastated about that, though. I mean, it's not the greatest, whereas Always Breaking My Heart ACTUALLY IS :D

I loved that book. She doesn't hold back :D
 


When asked to rank their 40 UK singles in order, Manic Street Preachers ranked this bottom - this genuinely surprised me as I think it's a lovely song. It's concise bordering on simple and maybe that's their problem but The Manics Play 'Violator' is my idea of a good time and I find the second verse in particular genuinely moving.

Talking of such things, I’ve been rather impressed with Janft Jackson of late, embracing her first 2 albums. She even posted a tribute to Two To The Power of Love recently with a clip from Fame… no mention of Cliff.
 
Chrissie Hynde always hated her no1 with her band Pretenders, ‘Brass In Pocket’, said it would be released over her dead body and was ignored by the record company. She has been kinder to it over the years but is rarely, if ever, in their set lists.

 
Paramore have publicly disowned Misery Business because it’s not pro-women to call other women whores.

 
Selena Gomez has spoken of her disdain for "Come and Get It" by referring to it as it "sounds like a Rihanna reject" and her (Selena) doing it as "wanting a hit":

I think both are true. They would have only been about 17/18 when Misery Business came out so they're ditching the "brattiness" that was probably actually their truth at that point.

I think recently they've started playing it again with different lyrics though. A (Hayley's Version) if you will :eyes:
 
The Catatonia decision is just plain weird. I get why they may not include it on a compilation they were curating but part of the cd set was original album reissues so to remove it from the tracklist is odd and wrong in my opinion.
