The Traitors UK (Season 2)

There's plenty else going on in December, might be the perfect antidote to the JANUARY BLUES or whatever

Aww I wanted it this year!!

Hopefully they stick to the Mon, Wed and Friday format but the BBC sure love to shoot themselves in the foot. They’ll probably just put the whole series on iPlayer in one go :(

I didn't watch the first series as I was away and then found out who had won in one of the papers so I didn't bother. I did watch the US one though and enjoyed it, so i'll be here for this!

No one will ever be as iconic (useless) as MERLY.

Some of yous need to listen to Finn more

Yeah I think late December (or more likely New Year's Day/Jan) feels most likely, despite the early Halloween-y trailer. I'd be very surprised if the BBC will want to have The Traitors, Survivor and Strictly all running at the same time.

Oh it's still definitely worth a watch!

I'd rather not have been edged by Claudia's Scottish Widdows cloak teaser if I have to wait until January, but schedule wise it probably is better.

I like Ed Gamble, I'm seeing him this week, although the main draw was Fern Brady.

That's my first day back at work, so at least it's something to cling on to.

It was quite exciting when that teaser popped up last night. The eye roller and Letitia Dean caught my eye.

I adore this show but I do hope it makes more sense this time around. The players had literally nothing to base their accusations on (what did the traitors actually have to do other than front it out at elimination?) - replacing the boring group tasks with missions where the traitors are at risk of exposing themselves would make more sense.

Yes, I said the same last year. There was no jeopardy with the tasks because everyone had a common goal. Make it like The Mole where the traitors were supposed to sabotage it and therefore potentially expose themselves. Having a show like this where you could essentially miss the entire middle of the show and not lose a single thing isn't great.

That said, I hope there aren't too many twists - just increase the level of risk to the traitors occasionally.

I don’t really care about twists and tasks. It’s all about the contestants. So long as they pick their cast with a great mix of characters there just for the game with no vain ambitions of a media career, then that’s what draws me in. That’s why Series 1 worked and why I was put off the US version.

I think celebrities can work in the show. There was a meltdown in the Canadian series because someone who was from reality TV wasn't doing well, and the tantrum was compelling viewing.

However, I definitely prefer the full peasant casts, and celebrity versions should be in addition, not instead of them.

Tasks are a huge chunk of the total viewing time though - so although casting is absolutely massively important, I DO want to care about the tasks.

The banishment table is of course the highlight. Whilst not a huge fan of the tasks I think their side purpose was better displayed in the first Australian series where people were doing or saying things that got picked up on, rightly or wrongly, by others.

I hope they find a way to stop traitors from breaking the spirit of the game and acting in the innocent’s interest. It left a very bitter taste in my mouth last time. I nearly banned someone from Moopy for doing something similar in one of the early Moopy Mafia games.

They fixed this in Canada

The person banished from the table before the endgame wasn't allowed to reveal if they were a traitor or faithful

I hope they follow this here.
