What would you like to achieve in 2024? Well I've achieved much in recent years, qualifications, started a proper career, got married. What's left?

I'd like to find a permanent part time teaching job, somewhere I love. Hopefully we'll get a car this year. We have two holidays planned at least. I know that's not an achievement, but it is exciting. We're starting yoga in the new year and we've been learning Italian, so continuing hobbies and learning. And maybe, just maybe I'll finally get round to applying for a PhD

After a tumultuous year of health, I'm hoping to improve on that significantly.

What were some personal highlights/favourite moments from 2023?
game nights with my friends, seeing Carly Rae Jepson at a stunning venue in Washington, a weekend at a lake over the summer. I didn't do much in 2023...

How did you engage in self care in 2023?
Well I started therapy and an anti-anxiety medication this year. I stopped seeing the therapist because she wasn't really doing anything for me more than my friends are, so I want to find a new one. The medication has really helped.

I read more than I ever have. 3 of the books I read this year are amongst my favorite ever: Lonesome Dove, The Last Picture Show, and Demon Copperhead

What bought you a sense of pride in 2023?
I followed a real running training plan for the first time and really improved my half-marathon time. I beat my old time by 5 minutes which really surprised me.

Who/what are you grateful to have had in your life in 2023?
Living with my parents for a few months actually really improved relationship with them. Its hard to see them get older but I feel like I have a more adult/reciprocal relationship with them now

Worrying about work

What would you wish for a fellow Moopy poster in 2024?
Money, sex, and happiness for everyone

What would you like to achieve in 2024?
I feel like I need to figure out my career/future. Its starting to hit me that I'll be 30 soon and I don't feel like I have a real career with room to grow (make more money really). I want to either get a new job or start a Masters or figure out something.

A boiling water tap to avoid waiting for the kettle to boil and a microwave that can also become a SECOND OVEN have been the highlights!

We saw an oven that just did the most amazing things, the meals pretty much cook themselves :o But obviously it comes at a stoopid price. Did your parents go for an induction hob?

They did!

Speaking of electric kettles, do you clean them? It does only have water in it and it boils

Rate 2023 out of 10: I'll give it an 8. It's not really done much to deserve it, other than being the first year since 2019 that hasn't been impacted by Covid.

What were some personal highlights/favourite moments from 2023?
My workplace has been so rewarding this year. I moved to my current school last year, but this year I've grown in my skills so much. I feel so SEASONED :disco: My colleagues are the best. I've even become the social coordinator. In barely a year, my network has DOUBLED.

How did you engage in self care in 2023?
My spiritual life. It's helped me not just to endure life itself, but to be so much more giving. My volunteer work has been the best part of the year. I was never like this before. Also, solitude is an absolute must.

What did you enjoy in 2023? Could be music/book/podcast etc
Friends mostly. But the Mariah Christmas concert was amazing.

What bought you a sense of pride in 2023?
I'm not really interested if feeling proud tbh. It doesn't make me happy.

Who/what are you grateful to have had in your life in 2023?
My youngest niece, she's such a riot. But literally everyone tbh, including Moopy.

What were some personal highlights/favourite moments from 2023?: Finishing the renovation of my house, re-claiming my mental health after a crap end to 2022, fun holidays, time with my family, and good career growth. I am also physically in the best shape of my life (which has brought as much mental benefit as anything else).

How did you engage in self care in 2023? Gym, gym, gym, LED light therapy and hydrafacials. I was never a big drinker but I have quit alcohol which has felt amazing. Silence is also fulfilling - I have never been so content in my own company.

What did you enjoy in 2023? Could be music/book/podcast etc - It was a great year for pop music and horror films. Football brings me continued joy (particularly going to matches with my dad).

What bought you a sense of pride in 2023? The general sense that less is more.

Who/what are you grateful to have had in your life in 2023? My family above everything else - this has always been the case but especially after a rough 2022. A small group of friends. My wonderful orange cat.

What did you spend too much time/energy on in 2023? I think this year was well balanced overall. I feel lighter as the year comes to an end which is hopefully a good sign. I can always do better - less social media in 2024 for sure.

What were some personal highlights/favourite moments from 2023?

There aren't many - it was a fairly settled year apart from a brief plot loss. Work was busy but actually rewarding and I bought a new guitar and some new effects pedals; my creativity beginning to stir again has been a nice feeling.

How did you engage in self care in 2023?

By allowing myself to rest when I needed to and not forcing myself to do things for the sake of doing them or because other people wanted it of me.

What did you enjoy in 2023? Could be music/book/podcast etc

I mean, as always with me, it's music, music and more music - most of it wouldn't mean anything here but it felt good to dive into a bit more reggae than usual, albeit yr classic 60/70s Jamaican music rather than anything of the day. The underground held a little less interest than usual; too much dull ambient that puts you to sleep for the wrong reasons. Electronica and Modern classical were on good form tho'. The mainstream feels healthy - I enjoyed Olivia Rodrigo, PinkPantheress, Lana, Tay-tay, boygenius, Melanie Martinez and Baby Queen. Oh and great to see Suede again.

What bought you a sense of pride in 2023?

Being recognised for the support I gave to an intake of 15-20 people in my department, as well as being adopted as an official "Work Mum" by 3 of the office queers. Maybe you do become who you needed when there was no-one there for you after all...

Who/what are you grateful to have had in your life in 2023?

Above all, my father.

What did you spend too much time/energy on in 2023?

People who wouldn't take no for an answer when they knew fine well the answer was no, the answer was always going to be no and the answer should be no.

What would you wish for a fellow Moopy poster in 2024?

Very much whatever you would want for yourselves. But if we're being specific, I do wish our Shee a better, more settled year because the man has been well and truly through the mill. Extra blessings to Tisch and Iggy too with their new arrival.

What would you like to achieve in 2024?

To stay in work, maybe add a little to my salary, for Terfism to start the inevitable shrivelling process and, of course, TORIES OUT!

What were some personal highlights/favourite moments from 2023?
I became more comfortable in my own skin, got a nice promotion in work. Moved into a nice apartment although will be moving out in 2024 as more space is needed :D I CAME BACK TO MOOPY!

How did you engage in self care in 2023?
I'm actively in therapy and have been on/off since 2020. I highly recommend it to everyone. I'm also almost 4 years sober so whilst this isn't new, it's absolutely on-going self-care which helps me stay healthy. Currently learning to drive and expect this to be wrapped up in a few months (I failed my first test but we move). I mean I wouldn't group 'learning to drive' and 'self care' together but I will acknowledge it as something I am doing for ME.

What did you enjoy in 2023? Could be music/book/podcast etc
I read a few great books in 2023, my favourite being 'The Vanishing Half' by Brit Bennet.

What bought you a sense of pride in 2023?
Doing well in my job and developing, helping and supporting others (FYI i'm a Mediator). Actively fostering and witnessing positive change.

Who/what are you grateful to have had in your life in 2023?
One friend in particular and my mum.

What did you spend too much time/energy on in 2023?
Other peoples feelings.

What would you wish for a fellow Moopy poster in 2024?
Well I'm still getting to know you all after a much extended sabbatical so I don't have anything for a specific member, but I do wish that everyone can be CUNTY for another 12 months! :disco:

What would you like to achieve in 2024?
Get my full driving license, develop further in my current job role and maybe even eye up another promotion. Operate on a strictly 'less is more' mindset - if things or even people don't serve me in terms of purpose, empathy or enrichment - it's absolutely fine to let it go and move on.
