I am working but at least the view is pretty good. :disco:

We’re basically spending today getting everything we own that isn’t a big bit of furniture in the loft/ into our incredibly limited downstairs space ready to have our floors redone in the next two weeks.

Mr Sheena (who hates my vinyl collection) is being smug as I haul ridiculous amounts of records and Saint Etienne memorabilia about and just about everything we say to each other is being handled through the most gritted of teeth.

Sweepstake on how long til we finally have a row?

I'm in the office VOLUNTARILY. A wee bit of overtime keeps me in obscure modern classical CDs so I might as well ride it instead of shivering at home.

I have actually found the perfect flat and booked a viewing for next week but I just checked and the agent’s taken it offline.

:hostage:

Oh, have it now and get it out the way. Before he drops your copy of 'Now 4' and the police end up involved.

:D

I felt oddly nostalgic going through the Saint Etienne stuff that has been piled into a few squares at the bottom of my record shelving without being looked at for a few years. I’d forgotten just how much I’ve got. Including all the merch, it must be beyond £10ks worth. I should probably work that out Discogs-wise.

And maybe think about shifting it. Bar the vinyl, I never touch it these days- Now 4 included!

Oh the overground is down so it’s actually physically impossible for me to get to South London today, NEVER MIND THEN.

10:45am.

Based on the fact the workmen have told us to clear everything bar the big bits of furniture, even saying “we’ll take the legs off that and then just pop them back on for you”, but he’s been bleating all week about how he’s worried that will slow them down and so now he’s insisting on…dismantling all the big bits of furniture he can which means they won’t put anything back together, just leave it as they found it, which means when we get back from holiday, we’re basically going to have to rebuild all the furniture in the entire fucking flat. We’re even paying for an extra labourer to help the workmen shift/ dismantle the furniture and deal with logistics in a small flat, but it’s clearly a better idea we get back at 2am with ABSOLUTELY NOTHING PUT TOGETHER.

FLAT VIEWINGS start today, pray for Lucy.

Best of luck to you! I had to endure the same just last week but managed to find somewhere fairly quickly which I’m putting down to divine timing or some shite like that :disco:

Hope you find something as quickly as painlessly as possible!

I've left some freelance until the last minute and stupidly told myself I could do it over this weekend as it's only 2,000 words. I've rewritten the first sentence a million times and I cannot be ARSED. All this on dry January as well! :TurtleTime:

Get ChatGPT to do it for you and touch it up at the end.

Or at least to give you some ideas.

But the workmen will have factored the big furniture shifting/dismantling into their timings, that's why there's the extra labourer! Ask him why he thinks he knows better than the professionals, you might get your argument by asking that :D

We've been sorting through DVDs and CDs recently too. There are just boxes of them! I'm happy to get rid but Mr Star wants to keep them.

DO NOT GET RID OF YOUR CDs WITHOUT TALKING TO ME FIRST, PEOPLE! Too many people throw them out without realising they might have the odd thing worth flogging.

You know it and I know it. But he thinks he’s helping.

I’ve told him on the Tuesday morning I am going into my office and he is putting everything back together himself.

I remember Sheena being upset when I told him I sent boxes of my old CD singles off to the car boot :(

And considering what a lot of those probably were, I bet you’d be sitting on some decent money by now.

I had a friend who was bragging about getting £50 off Music Magpie and when I looked at the list he sent, I spotted two things straight away that I could have got £50+ for individually. EASILY.

CD singles are actually the way to go if you find the right ones. Late 80s/ early 90s before they really took off can be so good. I once bought a load from the tip for £3 and I reckon I cleared £500+ for them. £100ish of that was for Emma’s Eurovision entry Give A Little Love Back To The World :D

To be honest, I just couldn't be arsed. But yes, I agree I would have made a small fortune.

Late 80s and particularly very early 90s was my prime music buying period.

I've still got some in random boxes in the garage, although I imagine they are in a bit of a sorry state by now.

Its inevitable, moving our 2.5 meter dining table up 7 flights of stairs was the closest weve ever been to divorce.

What are his favourite rocks? Granite? Limestone? A bit of marble? Is he strictly sedimentary or is he more of a metamorphic kinda guy?
