Melodifestival Director on "Miss Filth" Controversy: "Not good"
"If we receive information that we can act upon, we will, of course, take action."
"We do not act on speculations. This is still speculation, and we need something more to act, simply put," says Melodifestival Project Manager Anders Wistbacka.
He argues that questions about irregularities in streaming services are a matter for the music industry, not the Melodifestival.
"If we receive information that we can act upon, we will, of course, take action. But we have no means to delve into Spotify streams and investigate who has done what. We cannot do that. So right now, we are sitting tight," says Anders Wistbacka.
"No, there is no clause about the number of purchased streams on Spotify. Of course, there isn't. Instead, it's always a case-by-case assessment," says Wistbacka.
"If we had based our participants on Spotify streaming, well, then we would have had a significant problem. But that's not the case. Of course, it's a part of our overall assessment, but it's that easy getting into Melodifestivalen."
Only two artists have been disqualified in the history of Melodifestivalen.
Nathalie Family in 2003
Aftonbladet revealed that she was only 14 years old and thus too young to participate in ESC. She had lied about her age to SVT and was consequently replaced by DeDe Lopez.
Thorsten Flinck in 2020
Thorsten was disqualified as he was facing charges of unlawful threats and minor vandalism. SVT does not allow anyone currently involved in an ongoing process for prosecution to be part of the program.
According to the charges, the artist allegedly threatened another motorist with physical harm and was involved in minor vandalism by hitting his hand on the hood of the other motorist's car, resulting in a dent. Thorsten was later convicted in May of the same year.

I'm sorry then to have to inform you that Miss Filth is currently being pursued like a piranha by the Swedish media.
Miss Filth has been reported to law enforcement for selling nicotine products without a permit. At a concert in Ljungby in December, white snus was sold in the fan shop. There was no permit for this, and now the municipality has reported the artist to the police.
What's worse is that the music industry's rights and industry organization IFPI is considering filing a complaint against Gozzy and Miss Snusk. However, it is however unlikely that such a complaint would lead to prosecution before the Melodifestivalen final in March.
The latest news that the second or third Spotify re-upload of Darlecarlian Horse removed one songwriter and featured a another, Oscar Ek, who's gotten pissed and is threatening them with the police.
About 10 years ago, Oscar Ek and Rasmus Gozzi created music together, but they never released any collaborative songs. Now, he has not had any contact with Gozzi for several years.
"I'm 29 years old and really don't want to be associated with anything called Miss Snusk. It feels ridiculously childish, and I'm not a public person. I live a family life with my daughter."
Oscar Ek has tried to contact all three of Miss Snusk, Rasmus Gozzi, and André Zuniga, who previously was listed as a songwriter, but without success.

Indeed, it's very blown up. Now They're even going after her partner in crime, Mr. Rasmus Gozzi. There are rumours going around that you're a bot and that he's the actual songwriter behind 'Miss Filth's entry.
