Shows like that need a pair of "straight men" as it were. I like Gavin, but he doesn't make me laugh, and Stacey just irritates me. It's ALL about Nessa and Pam really...

I loved the ending...I like that nothing really was resolved and it was just the characters all trundling along through life exactly the same as they were before. I haven’t watched any of it for about 10 years either.

I agree. I can’t think of a dud out of the whole cast and I think they did the right thing in only making 3 full series. I regularly go back to it and it never seems like a chore to go through it all again. This and The Royle Family are definitely my favourite sitcoms that I never tire of but a new episode of course is ALWAYS welcome.

Really though? I don’t like to take apart things people really like, but I’ve always been baffled by this getting critical acclaim. It’s very watchable but this is due to it being so basic? Maybe I’m missing the LAYERS but stuff like James Corden ordering a curry don’t really seem like especially noteworthy writing. For me it’s more on the Mrs Browns Boys side of the spectrum than The Royle Family

In fairness, in case i was completely misremembering I’ve just watched the first four minutes of this and there have been NO jokes. Just discussion about ordering a takeaway and James Corden missing his friend?

I don’t think it is meant to be funny all the way through although it has many hilarious moments. It has fantastic likeable characters (even Smithy) and they carry it. Yes it can be silly but is far more on par with The Royle Family to me than the dreadful Mrs Browns Boys and is based on a love story.

It's a comedy, yes, but it's (often) subtle humour. If you haven't watched the whole thing properly (or at least a couple of episodes), I really don't think you can comment on what someone pulls out for YouTube.

It's SO not Mrs Brown's Boys level...

A lot of the humour is character driven as well - highlights are never going to successfully pick up on that.

On some level it IS quite basic. But a show that can appeal to 19m viewers is bound to be.

I always really liked it. Great cast, aside from the obvious and it's all about the iconic female characters anyway.

I haven't watched in ages, because Cordon, but I doubt it's lost much of it's charm.

Although Steadman and Brydon as the other most high profile cast members, I don't begrudge.

That’s not true beyond the two leads. The rest are entirely well employed in major roles. To say this is Steadman’s only big gig, for example, is nonsense! She’s been in loads of stuff since- well, relatively, considering her age.

I get the impression that Rith Jones prefers writing rather than acting. Has she performed on anything other than Stella, which she also wrote?

Plus she's written a few novels and had a Radio Wales presenting gig for a few years.
