Euro 2024

I think this is probably turning into the most boring game of football I’ve ever watched.

I have a feeling that if anyone is capable of snatching a goal for us tonight it's probably Palmer.

Well this has been a complete waste of an evening so far.

Earlier this year, I watched the Portuguese Eurovision selection final and I’m really starting to miss that level of entertainment.

I’ve watched more exciting games of Mornington Crescent.

I think it was 1990 when I first watched a shit England performance in the group stage of a major tournament. They really do know how to make you feel like you’re wasting your life.

Watching this on Italian TV is really giving Festival di Sanremo MONOLOGUES.

If I were ITV, I’d be seriously considering not using my first pick of the last 16 matches on the England game.

All this group needs is a Denmark goal and we play Germany on Saturday :)

why? the whole country will tune in to see some mid tier team take England up the arse :disco: masochism IS the national sport!

I wonder what happened to Dr Pulaski. They never mentioned her again after season two.

Anthony Gordon will be delighted at the 80 seconds he has been given to make his mark.

Well, that’s two hours of my life that I’m not getting back.

I mean, happy for Slovenia for going through but what a SHIT SHOW.

Top of the league. Should have an easy-ish draw next round.

Portugal won the Euros after drawing their three group games.

Future teams will defend less rigidly

And other such pieces of pointless optimism.

On the plus side, I got all the ironing done in record time given the total lack of excitement or distraction.

Aside from the results being in a different order and a different three teams being slightly worse than us, this is identical to our group in the 1990 World Cup. And that worked out OK.

Same number of goals scored as the 2020 group stage too 🤷‍♀️

These last few comments have the energy of Tories convincing themselves they have a chance in the election because Sunak has a kind face and old people don’t seem to mind him.

I cannot wait until this mug has gone, he's the most risk-averse (and bizarrely lucky) manager I've seen in my entire life. Southgate always been overly cautious about subs but not changing things up beyond a fairly straight swap for Gallagher at half time against an ultra-defensive team like Slovenia was ridiculous. Palmer looked alright for his 20mins or so but I thought the pundits were really scratching around for positives afterwards.

I'm still bemused why the criticism of England's performances has largely glossed over his tactical approach, most of these players play fluid attacking football every week. We've played these three games like we were in the knock-outs holding on for penalties (and still won the group!).
