while waiting for a new album from mother Florian Cloud I thought we could have a general thread... especially as I keep bumping random Dido topics, which frankly is giving unhinged.

anyway I've just this morning discovered two frankly 10/10 Dido songs I've NEVER HEARD BEFORE!

NYC, taken from a Greatest Hits collection I also did not know existed, and Everything to Lose from Sex and the City 2 (?!)

both amazing but NYC is absolutely GOD TIER! a lush megabop. I'm gagged! I'm pretending this is a BRAND NEW DIDO SONG that just dropped today to keep me FED during this long dry spell between albums.

I've fallen asleep to See You When You're 40 several times today

There will be
No more fags
At her door
They are bored
And always… will be

One of my favourite Dido Florian moments is when she said fuck it, fully leant into her caricature, and released an album with song titles like "Quiet Times" and "Let's Do The Things We Normally Do". To then be rewarded with the best critical reviews of her career.

BORE UP :disco:

I thought only this week what a weird world it was when Dido was a megastar. Or was selling megastar levels, at least.

Sometimes the people rise up and call out in one voice for something blandly pleasant like Dido, Corinne Bailey Rae or the beautiful, beautiful Corrs, and I think that's neat.

David Gray and Norah Jones too. The phenomenon of boring needs to be studied.

I always called it Supermarket Music- things people bought alongside a loaf and a pint of milk. Or “music for people who don’t like music”.

I've always called it 'Easy Listening'. Might be the title of her next album.

Supermarket music is my favourite kind of music

Let's chuck Gabrielle, Seal and Natalie Imbruglia in there too. But not Tin Tin Out. Never Tin Tin Out.

Eva Cassidy, Katie Melua, Jamie Cullum. There’s so many!

As it deserved!

Grafton Street is wonderful

Obviously all very tragic sad, but if one has to listen to tragic sad, it might as well be Dido-does-The-Corrs-tragic-sad

The Day Before The Day is also up there

It's TOO boring. You could easily drive your car off a cliff while listening to it. How is that SAFE?

And let’s not forget this GEM from Girl Who Got Away

Love that Dido evidently heard that ABBA had written the most bleak and depressing song called Happy New Year ever and was like ”Hold my dry white wine”.

I imagine she's been living off royalties for ages now and doesn't need to release anything new for a while; Thank You has been sampled quite a lot lately on a handful of generic dance tracks mainly by Jason Derulo and Dimitri Vegas and Like Mike which must have left her some pennies :disco:

Living off royalties? No one has ever been more obviously RICH BY BIRTH than Florian Cloud de Bounevialle Armstrong.

I loved it being Dido's opening track to make you think "what a pleasant little bit of MOR" before you then realise that actually it's the most BOMBASTIC and energetic that Florian will ever be
