Kylie & The Blessed Madonna - Edge of Saturday Night

This is absolutely everything I wanted from her after Tension.

MOM CAN GO HOME.
 
What the hell is going on with her voice lately. She sounds so STRAINED
 
I don’t understand her AI sounding vocal production since Disco as when she sings live her vocal is much more palatable than the recorded version. Didn’t she start doing her own vocal production around Disco? Time to stop.
 
I hear no issues with her vocals on this - her delivery suits the song.

Indeed, save for the recent My Oh My (which was frankly diabolical) Tension was well produced, vocally at least. The effect on her voice in Padam, elevated the song.
 
she sounds nasal af but not in a way that would stop me enjoying the song. which sounds extremely hot. need.
 
Well the bits with piano are most definitely on the 59 :disco:

I agree with the voice issues though and she could benefit hugely with a proper coach when doing it herself at home or wherever.
 
Not a Gaydio exclusive. It sounds very good. I assume it is primarily a TBM song... we'll see if it ends up on this mythical Tension deluxe

I think it was Biff (or might have been Steve) who said on a podcast interview that she is very particular about recording her own vocals and will often go back and revisit things to get them exactly as she wants.
 
Decent, odd a song gets played on radio without prior announcement these days for a major artist right? I wonder when it will go on streaming

That's what makes it so baffling.
 
I don't understand this criticism that she shouldn't play around with her vocals and delivery. She started doing this as early as on Body Language. It's hardly a new development.
 
Also 5/10 my ARSE - Chrissy if you've been as bored with Kylie and her output as long as you claim to have been, maybe it's time you stopped listening.

Or maybe he's hopeful she'll go back to what gave him joy previously?
 
I think I probably prefer Disco too but I absolutely loved a good 2/3 of Tension.

My point is that the material she has released in the last 4 years is not a million miles from what she released before, so if you're tired of it, maybe you're just tired of Kylie period?
 
I mean given the choice, I would listen to the last two albums over Aphrodite for instance.

Disco had a couple of major highs but there was about 6 songs on Tension that I playlisted for months.

It’s probably my 3rd or 4th fave Kylie album
 
Disco had 'Say Something' - which is one of her best songs ever. But it's not 'disco'.
The rest of the album.. well, the less said the better.

Dance Floor Darling (begrudgingly)

ALL FIRE. I think it's the inclusion of Say Something which makes me love it a bit more because overall I probably prefer more tracks on Tension.
 
I'm with Suedey. Say Something is song of towering majesty and many times better than anything else on Disco. Tension is a much more enjoyable album.

The last two tracks are both MEH
 
I hardly ever feel the need to put Disco on. And I imagine I'll feel the same, say, five or ten years down the line.
Whereas I can see myself frequently getting back to Tension for a spin/stream.

I do like Magic and Real Groove. Those are the other two keepers from me.
It should have been a cute EP/mixtape type thing rather than a proper album

Nobody would criticise her for playing around with her vocals. However it is ok to express an opinion that you don’t particularly enjoy her current trend of doing a barely human sounding vocal.

I think of the four collaborations released this year, I only really love this. Midnight Ride is fine but nothing more than that and I hate Dance Alone. My Oh My might have fared better if parts of it weren’t actually unpleasant to listen to (and it was better written). So I haven’t loved everything.
