Madonna rewind - 'LIVING for LOVE'

What do we think of this song now that it's (nearly) ten years old?

As we all know it will forever be associated with 'that' wardrobe malfunction but as a song and the curtain raiser from the ill-fated Rebel Heart project it really did not resonate with me at the time. And I think it still doesn't. It's one of those songs where it's lesser than the sum of its part. The sound was on trend, and so was the production and we also had the choir and some trademark Madonna lyrics but it just missed something for me.



I thought the video was pretty good with the minotaur imagery but she had done the matador stuff much better in the past.

And for what it's worth, I think the final released version was better than all the leaked demos

I love the song. It delivers several ooomphs, most notably the squelchy production that struts out after the 1 minute mark or so. Then the up Up Up UP

I liked it at the time, I think I would give it a 7-8 nowadays because it's kind of limp isn't it??

I wouldn't say I liked that it stuck out of the rest of the album like a sore thumb even though we all know it was panic city due to the constant leaks and she didn't have time to fix everything but LFL being the only upbeat song on the album (Regular Edition of course) has never sat well with me

I always felt it felt like a hastily written pop song to act as the lead single as there weren't any other obvious ones on the album (which I would argue, but whatever). The production feels rushed too. It's fine but I never recall it when going over his discography.

A generous 7, a realistic 5

A souped up William Orbitty "Rebel Heart" would have served lovely as a lead singal.

It was her best pure pop moment since the Confessions era. But it’s not exactly a high bar.

8/10 its solid, its quite an impressive and Madonna being decent track with the video, but its not one her of her classics.
