Thoughts?

I've just been made aware of all the hooha but to be honest being bezzies with Taylor Swift is enough to make her one in my books.

In all seriousness though she does come across terribly here:

She and her husband are both insufferable, and have made negligible talent go a long way.

She was really wonderful in It Ends With Us, as well as Age of Adaline. Was quite surprised to see that apparently she’s been “difficult” in the promotion. Maybe she just hates interviews and promoting.

Toning down the title a little bit if that's OK.

I feel like there's a subtle but important difference between calling women CUNT (complimentary) and calling a woman *a* cunt. Admittedly it's quite blurry with the rapid rise of the former in our pop cultural vernacular. Also I just think EVIL is funnier.

Happy to have the debate if other people feel differently though.

She is evil and the fact that everything she touches rots away and flops to the point that her husband has to put her in all his projects says it ALL.

Oh Eddie, not FRUMPGATE 2.0

I've always really liked her and I'm sick of these tiktok exposés (usually based on fuck all) where gen Z suddenly decides somebody famous (always a woman) is rotten to the core and goes out of their way to ruin them.

Supposedly she has taken a very flippant tone with the promotion and given the subject matter, it has enraged many survivors of domestic abuse.

Her interview technique has been compared unfavourably to that of Julia Roberts doing the promotional circuit for Sleeping With The Enemy.

Also there are new claims suggesting she has used TERFisms in the past.

Didn’t Roberts have just a bad few years when she was going through lots of personal troubles?

Either way, I’d rather judge them on their performances. I haven’t seen Blake Lively in all that much, probably because I never watched Gossip Girl and she’s had a bunch of babies. But what I have seen her in, she’s been quite exceptional.

The suggestion is that at 22, Roberts handled it far more sensitively than Lively at 36 has.

People are now going crazy over this BUT the term was widely used back then and only fell out of use in recent years. Christian Siriano made the term so famous again it got its own SNL parody.

I don’t think it makes her anti-trans unless there’s anything recent that shows the behavior.

Blake Not So Lively if you please!

I've never minded her. She's barely on my radar, but having been forced to sit through multiple episodes of Gossip Girl XOXO, she always seemed quite game.

That’s also what’s weird. She’s really doesn’t do much but all of a sudden she’s the new Ellen for the haters. GO PISS GIRL

She's good in Cafe Society, but I doubt being in something Woody Allen connected is going to do her many favours :D

She's not evil, I've seen some of the TikToks Jark mentions and have read a good amount of threads found on TwitterX that expose her as yet another VERY out-of-touch celebrity.

She's been brushing off serious questions about domestic violence, the central theme of her latest movie, and acting all tone-deaf. Instead, she's been going about how lovely the outfits she wears in it are and hawking her recently launched hair care line. It's not enough to CANCEL her altogether, but people need to stop expecting so much from actresses, especially from Blake fucking Lively.

I suppose I ought to respect her more as an actor, if she's that vapid a person.

i always find it ridiculous that we are meant to “like” actors or entertainers or whatever (see also those ridiculous “do you like” topics and the Madonna discussion) and they always come back to women. But really no one asks if you like, say, a prominent male scientist.. Or even an author (if we keep it to entertainment) or someone else who’s not so visual as a singer / actor / etc. (taking the gender out of it for a moment).

So in summary I dont give two shits about Blake Livelys interviews if her performance in the film is good.

Can we not remove the word evil from this topic? The conversations have moved on. We are in 2024.

not sure who's been keeping up with this story but it's exploded this last week.

a New York Times article details the way Baldoni responded to an on-set harassment complaint made by Lively during filming by hiring a (female-run) PR crisis management firm (who also repped Johnny Depp vs. Amber Heard) to run a months-long, widespread internet and social smear campaign against Blake. some of it is quite shocking actually.

his management have since dropped him and various actors from the film, the author Colleen Hoover and many of Blake's previous co-stars are coming out in support of her. she's also filed a lawsuit in response to the smear campaign and loss of work including an SNL hosting gig that resulted. very ugly. hopefully this Baldoni fuck is toast now.

in another interesting development - that Norwegian (?) entertainment reporter who went viral over the summer posting an old interview in which Blake was kinda rude to her now appears to be on the payroll of said crisis PR firm as an opinion-shaper in showbiz circles. she comes out with a well-timed story/clip from the archives any time that the celeb in question is being attacked by this PR firm. Hollywood is nasty!

I still believe she's evil (married to Ryan Reynolds, friends with Taylor Swift, I rest my case) but sad for her that she was stuck in a film with someone truly evil (allegedly).

So it turns out the whole thing was a media campaign against her. It all makes sense now. Hollywood really is disgusting.

I am loving this. I’ve always liked her, and yes some of the things dug up weren’t all that flattering, but after twenty odd years given that’s the best they could find it all just seemed weird how there was so much press against her a few months back. Especially as all her co-stars happily appeared with her and not him throughout the promotion - something seemed OFF.

Glad it’s out there, but awful how it shows just how bad the industry can be, even against someone with her name.

I’m just praying it never turns out that Elon Musk has been smeared by baddies and we have to take the ‘EVIL’ out of his thread title.

The only thing I don’t understand is saying that the film underperformed because of this. The film was a massive hit with legs.

This is a very dark road we're stepping down

What if...the evil CEO wasn't evil?
