What Are You Watching? 2024

Do we know if the BBC are going to release the full season of Sherwood after the first episode?
 
I'm watching an eye-wateringly cringeworthy documentary about Romesh Ranganathan trying to solve the murder of Tupac Shakur, which toes the line between serious documentary and fangirling.

A bit late now but it appears they aren't. I guess they want the live ratings for this one.

I thought the first episode took a little while to get going but I was in by the end. Monica Dolan's character was very unnerving.
 
Speaking of slow episodes, I thought the first one of Interview with the Vampire S2 was not especially thrilling but it has definitely picked up.

Finished Fellow Travelers (very good in the end, watched the last three episodes pretty much in one go) and Daddy Issues (good fun).

More BBC comedy with We Might Regret This.
 
Following in the wake of Poker Face was unfortunate but Elsbeth is good fun, the campier episodes especially.
 
The Guardian put a good list together of what’s coming in the autumn. I quite like the sound of this nonsense:

Nightsleeper​

This one is going to be enormous. A six-part, real-time thriller set on a runaway sleeper train travelling from Glasgow to London, Nightsleeper looks set to have all the propulsive thrust of Line of Duty, all the tension of 24 and all the silliness of Speed.

Only discovered Sherwood last week! Binged series 1 and now up to date. Loving KEETS (sic) getting a bigger role this time round

It does annoy me when they have the early mixers and there is only one gay celeb. So the gay men at the mixers are clearly there just for one person, and when he picks someone young enough to be his son and then realises it’s clearly not a match, who exactly is to blame? Don’t put a bunch of 23 year old guys in there for a 50 something man.
 
Good point. However, I found his talking heads commenting on what he was/is thinking in relation to what we were seeing to be veering on gaslighting. Maybe he was simply playing to the cameras during the dates, but it was mostly gross. I'm even a little doubtful that the 22 year old was actually not feeling well as it's a tactful way of being able to avoid someone as full on as that. Lucky escape. That reminds me I have tonight's to watch.

It's textbook cozy crime and mostly drivel, but it's lovely to have a low stakes 45 minutes of froth you don't have to think for. Been on your phone and missed the last few plot developments? it doesn't matter! This is telly for old ladies with dementia so you'll still get the jist of it and have a LOVELY TIME 😍

Apparently it's a Father Brown spin-off, but I've never watched Father Brown coz he's a fat old priest and not a NUN on a MOTORBIKE

Obviously this ought to be right up my street for a number of reasons, but the association with Father Brown put me right off ever checking it.

And I know I'd just wish I was watching Sally Field in The Flying Nun all the while I was watching it.

I'm currently watching Clarkson's Farm from series 1. Never seen it before, can't stand him. But it's such a good show!

I’m catching up now. Jesus, the “experts” are going a bit OTT.

Making Ella admit to having sex with her date in front of everyone… could have confronted her anywhere else. Either way, the whole “transparency” argument just seemed like gossip for the cameras.

Stephen getting 0/10 from his boring date was hilarious with the reaction shots of everyone. Yes he’s quite crude, but the date WAS boring. He started out saying he liked Stephen from Gogglebox and hoped he was the same in person. Stephen is the same innuendo-ridden self as on screen and he didn’t like it?

And now Paul says to Stephen “you won’t be successful in LIFE if you carry on like this”? He’s a 51 year old homosexual hairdresser who likes a lot of sexual innuendo. Leave him alone.

Helen has 3 kids under the age of 10. That’s a BIG part of her life. Why are they telling her to stop mentioning it? It’s not like she’s gushing about them non-stop. It would be weird if she didn’t mention it.

This series so far hasn’t given me a proper hate figure. They all seem really nice.

Tried The Decameron on Netflix as I was after some more semi-historical silliness, but abandoned, at least for now, after one episode as I was not feeling it.

On the other hand, I am four episodes through Kaos and I am loving it so far. Jeff Goldblum and Janet McTeer seem to be having much fun as Zeus and Hera, and the rest of the cast is great - lots of familiar British tv faces.
 
So GRACE starts back tomorrow, a crime drama that's done amazingly in Brighton -

I've never got round to watching any, can I watch this fourth series without enduring the first three?
The promo says they are all new cases so I get that, I just don't want to start at S4 if the back story is really deep...

I watched some of this... I maybe checked out somewhere around the third series. John Simm had a missing wife but it is very much in the two hour ITV Sunday night crime drama format, in which the case of the week dominates.
 
I only picked Grace up properly in series 3 after seeing the odd one before that. I'd say you could definitely enjoy each episode individually - the backstory of the missing wife is present, although in some episodes hardly at all. Just knowing that story is there if you're going into it now is probably good enough to get by and not get in the way.
 
You've both sold it to me - will start at S4 tonight!
 
I've went back a series of Celebs Go Dating. Vanessa Feltz is also not coming across well at all. She's onto date #3 and I've already seen the lift-hug preview that she didn't enjoy.
 
Just about to start tonight's CGD. We've had the Flannigan drama falsely previewed for 2 episodes so it had better be on this one.
