This is how you know you're getting old and you have too much stuff.
I was in a well-loved Glasgow music retailer the other day and spotted a new John Cale box set. Hmm, I thought, looks nice...what's on it...I remembered that I had a compilation at home but also that I'd meant to dig further into this period of Cale's career. At £26, I thought I'd better check that it was to my requirements before coughing up.
So, yesterday, I'm in the attic, popping a few things back and taking a few things down for listening...that's right...Cale...into the C boxes...and I find "The Island Years". Yes, that's it, I thought it was Close Watch set but I must have plumped for this..£3! well, that explains why, I wonder what's on it?
What's on it is THE ENTIRE CONTENTS FOR THE NEW 3 DISC SET. Save for one 'remix' that surely no-one would miss.
Oops.
I'm not sure if that's as bad as buying the 2CD of Saint Etienne's So Tough for £7 being thrilled with the bargain and getting home to find that I already had it.
