I have no idea while Paul Weller is embarrassed by how great the Jam were. He spent the rest of the 80s pretending to be a French art student, then went into his Grumpy The Scarecrow era, then went "wouldn't it be great if it was 1968 again everyone?" and has fucked about along those lines ever since.

The song writing is exceptional. Two lovers kissing amongst the scream of midnight / Two lovers missing the tranquillity of solitude is poetry.

I had my obligatory The Jam phase in my early 20s. Couldn't tell you the last time I actually put them on intentionally though.
