Do you still carry cash?

The Moopycensus continues with this absolute doozy of a question.

Do you still make sure you're carrying physical cash on you? Or do you prefer just your cards/phone tap?

I feel like even cards are becoming obsolete?
 
I carry round a cushion of cash just in case, but hardly use it. The only place I can think of that insists on it is the barbers, and the chippy prefers cash (but it's been ages since I've been)
 
Sometimes have cash, in case the card is declined. ☺️ I did lose my card once, it got blocked/cancelled by whoever found it, and had to use coins for the bus in university a couple of years ago 😅
 
I like to keep a small amount of cash in my wallet. Probably no more than £20-£30 or so. The main place I use cash is a community cafe next to where I work two days a week, and they prefer to be paid in cash, which doesn't seem unreasonable when I only spend two or three quid there each time and they are a not for profit.

It's very rare I withdraw cash though - I usually manage to keep topped up by picking up odd bits for my mum that she asks me to get when I'm out shopping, and then she usually pays me in cash.
 
I always have an emergency £20 note in my phone case and I always have cash in my purse. I also have a small stash of cash (around £200) under the unicorn in the living room from my birthday money that I put in birthday cards throughout the year.

More no than yes. Most of the time I only have my phone. There's some cash in my backpack but I don't always have it with me.
 
Usually have an emergency £20 or around that amount, but it’s just folded up in a small card holder. Most of the time it’s spent on office leaving collections and the occasional donation to a homeless person.

I’ve stopped carrying a purse and only have a couple of cards on me, so at least if that ever got lost/stolen, I’d not have to replace absolutely everything.

And we probably carry more of them than you routinely, thanks to having £1 and £2 coins (rather than a note for that denomination) and the fact that £5 notes seem relatively hard to come by.

Often I'll wait for the cash and card self service till in a supermarket just for the opportunity of dumping a pocketful of coins in it.

Oh man, I DO NOT miss $1 and $2 coins. The ones in New Zealand used to feel like carrying an extra wallet
 
Mind you, I never really liked being on holiday in the US, thinking I had loads of cash because my wallet was stuffed with notes, only to discover it was all singles, either.
 
I always use card these days and if I am giving money to the kids it will usually be a bank transfer. I do always have cash on me though buried in many purses and many a handbag. I don’t leave the house without a handbag so in answer to your question it is YES, but I can’t really remember the last time I used it. I haven’t quite mastered using my phone to pay for things yet though.

You can use those to slide into the waistband of a go-go boy's jockstrap.
 
I have change on me, like a few pound coins and 50p but only because I often pop into charity shops/book swaps and want to buy a book and can't use my card.
 
MOOPY FOUND DEAD to learn that I'm actually quite modern when it comes to SHILLINGS AND PESETAS

I hate cash, I do have a jar of discarded pound coins by the door for when Just Eat pays a visit or I need a cheeky ice cream from the man in the van. I'm not sure what I do with the other coins, probably lying about in meaningless places never to be seen again. I ACTIVELY HATE having cash in my pocket, I'll go into a shop just to get rid of it and any change goes straight into the charity box (if they don't have one by the till I make a point of asking WHY NOT and just leaving the change on the counter)

I have a bank card, a business bank card, an AMEX for points, a revolut and apple pay. I mostly use my phone now. I haven't had a FILTHY credit card for about 20 years (never ever get one).
 
Just got back from a short break in Paris. I had €55 in cash in an old wallet that I brought with me. Didn't even touch it because it’s just so much easier to tap in on your phone - and now the foreign currency cards have gone to Apple Pay its even better.

Also, when purchasing larger items/services from local companies I still always ask whether it'll be any cheaper for cash but I don't have a problem if it isn't. If you don't ask, you don't get.
