Phillip Schofield's Career DEAD? 🤷‍♀️ The Castaway Years (1 Viewer)

During the pandemic they were both dreadful, this was especially cringe-inducing.

That is CRINGE but not the reason many turned on him BEFORE any of this came out.

I always thought Holly and Phil had a great relationship on the show but latterly he started to talk over her and you could see it was pissing her off. He also came across as sharp, unlikeable and a terrible know it all. At least with Holly she had very human moments but his character changed completely to the nice likeable guy he was previously. He started to believe his own hype and thought he was untouchable and that was NEVER going to end well.

With your post being so MATTER OF FACT I thought you were the man himself.

I think it's quite realistic that he wouldn't take part in anything live, and where production could be carefully managed.

who KNEW Rita would ask the question and reject the answer? :D an utterly unforeseeable scenario!!!

It’s not the answer though. If you read the article hun it is someone speculating about the whole thing. 🤷‍♂️ I thought NANCE was going to quote Schofield himself when he said that definitely wasn’t the reason he wasn’t doing it.

I still don’t think ITV want anything to do with him and that’s why this is broadcasting on channel 5.

You absolutely didn't think he had a direct source either. :D

Am I missing something? How is that BBC article of speculation a direct source and gospel?

They are no doubt waiting for Huw Edwards for CBB.

I am actually LAUGHING my head off. I asked how Nancy would know as his reply was so matter of fact and he posted some cryptic BBC article clearly written by someone new to the job and everyone is having a JUMP ON. Come on boys, MORE and I will ride you in to NEXT WEEK. đź’‹

ITV have no problem with Schofield, as we will all discover when he pops out of a skunk costume in next year’s Masked Singer. :disco:

Steven McIntosh has been an Entertainment Reporter for the BBC for over five years.

Because I had a quick look at his Twitter and he's been posting BBC articles written by himself for at least the last 5 years (couldn't be bothered to go back any further than that).

I meant about Schofield… :D

I think it's not exactly a reach to imagine that both things are true - ITV won't have him back, and getting on C5 / doing something like Castaway to try and repair his image is the best strategy available to him. in fact it's quite likely. what is this argument even about? :D

The fact that Nancy said 'no, that's not the reason', rather than 'I don't think that's the reason' essentially, isn't it?

Anyway, I suspect that ITV would happily have him back once he's been seen to be rehabilitated. They just don't want the responsibility of doing it, and Channel 5 are more desperate and have fewer qualms.

I can imagine ITV being reluctant due to them not coming out of the whole affair looking squeaky clean either. I would imagine they don't want to actively play a part in repairing his image.
