With Folie A Deux getting terrible reviews and flopping commercially (along with the Harlequin album), what does it mean for Stefanie's career as an actress in Hollywood?

Do you think LG7 will be negatively impacted? :vomit:

Discuss!

I mean Madonna made plenty of shit movies and she still kept trying. I think it will just be a footnote if she manages another great album next.

I think she'll be fine.

The reviews are dogshit, but very few of them seem to be pitching the blame at Gaga or Phoenix.

The plot, the songs, the very choice of making it a musical... all different matters.

She'll be absolutely fine. She's already recognised as a major talent, a dodgy film, especially one that's seen to swing big even though it misses, will do her no harm whatsoever.

Nah she's fine.

The fact that Die With A Smile has turned into a streaming monster and is smashing on both sides of the atlantic despite the film being a dud also doesn't exactly hurt.

Judging from what I've read all week on Twitter she's just pissing off a lot of incels, straight bros, and comic book geeks and that's FINE by me!

Apparently, she ruined the Simpsons too from an appearance she did like 14 years ago, the Simpsons have been shit for decades now huns.

just as House of Gucci didn't kill her acting career (and she was kinda awful in that!), this won't impact anything.

she still has the #1 song and movie in the world right now. that cultural currency of being everywhere is worth a lot more than the box office receipts of one film. she's in a great place to launch LG7.

She'll be fine. It'll just be seen as another semi-indulgent vehicle of the kind that isn't really outside what her brand is at this point anyway.

The lead single of LG7 is much more important in influencing/indicating where her career goes from here. And to be honest, the success of Die With A Smile pretty much shows that she's always got a formula she'll be able to rely on to stay culturally relevant on the music front, even if the solo discography becomes increasingly diminishing returns from here on out.

I feel she will announce it latest Monday 28th for a halloweeny drop on the 31st

It wasn't much of a flop compared to other releases from 2024. Off the top of my head, I'll say it did a bit better than Borderlands, The Crow, The Watchers, and that god-awful remake of The Exorcist (:D :disco: ) but Joker 2 had a shit ton of bad publicity and most of it was aimed towards Gaga; I somehow feel Joaquin was left unscathed.

Wasn't sure where else to put to put this, but this is a reliably excellent (and fair!) video essay on Gaga's film career to date from Be Kind Rewind.
