Kylie - Tension II (Album XVIb)

Nothing individually is striking me as a stand-out but I do really like the overall vibe. The production is top notch.

Listening now. Taboo is great. Someone For Me is something else though. :o

Love how languid Kiss Bang Bang is. It sounds like a sister track to SayHey. It has a slightly creepy stalkerish vibe to it. 5 for 5 for me so far.

Diamonds - this is a bop. Not entirely convinced about the rap sections though.

Hello is another creepy song. It's very much in the mould of Padam though. "I am the WHY you are still awake" :disco:. She sounds like an AI robot.

Dance To The Music is the first miss for me. It sounds like it took inspiration from Dua's Dance The Night. It's not terrible just a bit generic.

Shoulda Left You. I'm not sure about this one. I like the lyrics and it has that sing along vibe that You Still Get Me High did so well...but it also sounds like something that could have been recorded for Golden. Maybe it's because it's a breakup song.

Honestly I'm a bit obsessed by Someone For Me, Good As Gone, Kiss Bang Bang and Hello.

Oh my. Good As Gone is really quite something too. I love the line "love the way I look ripped out of your arms". :disco:

This actually IS a break-up/revenge/creepy take-me-back-stalkerish album and I'm frankly living for it. It has a far more subversive tone than the first album but actually the songs DO fit on the entire project as a whole. I just wish that Should Have Left Ya didn't have that almost acoustic ending.

Dance To The Music also really sticks out like a sore thumb here. It would have been better on the first Tension set, possibly in place of 10 Out Of 10.

IMO Diamonds and Dance To The Music should have been on the first album and Padam and Tension should have been on Tension II.

Taboo is camp. Someone For Me bangs a lot harder though.

happy for you, but selfishly...
do you have someone for me?
:disco:

some of Dua's usual writers are involved in Good as Gone and I can totally hear her on it. production wise as well it's not that far from Whatcha Doin. loving this.

Some of this feels like what Disco THOUGHT it was.

The relentlessly short song lengths all with abrupt endings that don’t seem to have any build or nuance to the finish is slightly grating on me, though, but a MINOR gripe.

Only My Oh My from the collabs appears to work on the Apple Music stream…the others are greyed out

Kylie's vocal on Someone For Me reminds me so much of the ORIGINAL vocal on Come Into My World before it disappeared off the face of the planet.
