Does Ciara really have enough hits to justify a headline slot?

It’ll be a no from me too.
 
The Sunday lineup is much more appealing, which is annoying because a festival on a Sunday is much less appealing.
 
That is a shockingly bad line-up…! How the hell did Ciara make it to headliner? Kesha too to be honest; but especially Ciara.

I really hope people vote with their feet on that and they struggle to sell tickets but annoyingly it’s just become one of those institutions that people seem to buy tickets for regardless of the acts now.

That’s what happened last year too. It would be fine if it were the week earlier as it would lead into the bank holiday.
 
Maybe it’s just me wanting it to be something it’s not, but it does feel like they’ve moved away from what it seemed to be that first year when the lineup was absolutely 90s-00s poptastic from top to bottom.

Now it feels like the organisers said “oh just throw in Supersister and AMY STUDT, that’ll fool ’em’” :D

Steps and Sugababes were the headliners just two years ago!
 
I’m not too enamoured overall although Kesha is absolutely perfect for a headline slot and obviously Loreen as special guest does it for me too.

That Saturday TBA would suit Jade rather nicely, so keeping my fingers crossed for that…

Even last year’s much-maligned line up shat all over this one. Nelly Furtado, En Vogue, Jessie Ware all people that I was quite happy to see.

I’d be vaguely interested to see Ciara in a 3pm slot, but not as headliner.

It just feels like money saving more than anything.
 
The Steps/Suga one was when they really ramped it up in terms of size and scale though, wasn’t it?

I feel like the one before was pretty big too? Not that I went. But I remember feeling really shit that I missed out and that’s what gave me the FOMO to go in 2022.

It feels like the ramping up has happened more from the ‘London gays’ than by the organisers themselves to be honest.

The ones in 2018 and 2019 were pretty much that size as well.

I went to one before 2022 but I can’t remember which one. And I don’t think the size had changed massively yeah. It’s just it became a little bit more widespread in terms of gays going ‘you must come or you’re a DEAD GAY’
 
Who is behind Mighty Hoopla? I presume a faceless festival company, who said let's make money from the gays.
 
Day two isn't terrible based exclusively on Loreen and Kesha. But where the 80s and 90s legends? Seeing Kim Wilde was a life highlight.

This is hilarious. It’s appalling! Literally no one I would be remotely interested in apart from Loreen (who did it either this or last year) and Jamelia at a push.

Utter rubbish and seems to miss entirely the selling point of the whole thing.
 
Even The Vengaboys were on only two years ago.

I wonder if last year’s trauma cost them any money and this is the fallout?
 
I stand by my suggestions from a couple of years ago. None of them are dead, all very achievable.

Enya performing live for the first time in donkey's years to a crowd of gays in fluorescent mesh THWORPing their "SLAG!" fans. That would be a moment most pleasing.
 
Even I can see that line up is SHIT. It's like a provincial Pride event where you would go "that's pretty decent for North Shitterton".
 
It must be difficult to avoid repeating acts too regularly but that line up is very thin for two days. Still, I'm sure £££ will stop them from going back to one day.

This (plus Nadine Coyle, obviously a highlight) was the line up of the only one I attended:

Also, perfect for a short set - 3 songs, finish with their Eurovision hit and off.
 
I’ve been a bit over Hoopla since they switched to the two days. I am beyond the point where i’d be willing to do Saturday AND Sunday and the stuff i’d want to see is peppered across both… meaning i’ll probably do neither.

The guys who run the Eurofest club night had a DJ slot last year and there was talk that it might include appearances from Eurovision acts but it just ended up being a couple of drag queens.
