What Are You Watching? 2024

Just binged The Madness on Netflix, tense conspiracy thriller with Colman Domingo who is excellent. Great supporting cast too.

I'm just watching the third episode now. There's more humour than I expected. Sarah Lancashire is a somewhat fleeting haughty presence so far, but Knightley and Whishaw play off each other well.

I can't help but compare to Slow Horses, and it isn't as smart or funny as that. I am enjoying it though.
 
I've watched it all and I really liked it, while at the same time not thinking it was quite as good as it could be.

The cast and tone make it REALLY watchable - I love that it's always fun and a bit funny, in the way some spy shows forget to be - but by the end I wanted a bit more from the plot and the sentimental final scenes really didn't work for me. Lancashire is a bit meh in it by her standards, but everyone else is great. I'll deffs watch s2, which has already been announced.
 
Well that last episode was two thirds postscript. It was a lot of fun though.

I especially loved Williams and Eleanor.
 
Wolf Hall was excellent and completely unlike anything on tv now.

Somebody Somewhere is as warm and lovely as ever. Sam's reaction to Tricia's medical issue in episode 4 :D

Also because I apparently can't get enough spies I am halfway through The Day of the Jackal.

I finished watching this yesterday.
It was alright, I guess (although a tad too long). I really disliked Aldis Hodge in it (and he kept reminding me of a lizard). Isaiah Mustafa on the other hand :disco:
 
Finishing up Married at First Sight NZ season 3. The gays are an attractive couple who hate each other - feeling very nostalgic and Christmassy all of a sudden.

No offence to KC and all Kiwis, but the accent is giving Kath and Kim shop assistants a lot.
 
Finished The Day of the Jackal. Quite good
though I am still thinking about poor good man face Rasmus :(

Think I am five episodes or so through No Good Deed on Netflix. Entertaining but not as good as Dead to Me.
 
Somebody Somewhere was wonderful. Such a great cast - Sam and Joel have the most natural relationship and Tricia so funny. I read they didn't know that HBO would be swinging the axe but it was a satisfying enough finale.

Based on a True Story S2 was again a fun romp, though with a cliffhanger that requires another season.

I've watched a couple of episodes of the much acclaimed After the Party. Excellent so far, with an outstanding lead performance.
 
The Split two parter was very enjoyable. Nicola Walker good as ever, and she works well with Stephen Mangan, tragic earring and all.

I also watched the Blur reunion documentary yesterday on Sky. I was reminded that they really did light Wembley beautifully for The Universal, and it also struck me just how committed Graham Coxon is to a slim fit, thin striped t-shirt.
 
I loved The Split so was a bit shocked when they announced this surprise two parter. Got the second one to catch up on maybe tonight :disco:
 
I believe I've said before that Nicola Walker bores me. And I don't think I've ever been convinced by Stephen Mangan in dramas. I nodded off after about 15 minutes.
