MORNING LOVES!

Been to the gym and finished my Christmas shopping, so I'm feeling PERKY :disco:

I'm feeling pretty sluggish. Busy morning followed by work this afternoon. This cup of tea will change everything.

Contemplating getting up. Think I can probably get away with another 15 minutes in bed.

I've not really noticed the drawing in of the nights/ days or the mornings being dark so much this year. I'm not entirely sure WHY. Maybe my office, which although it gets lots of natural light, is basically on the top floor of a huge building and so doesn't have a "view", so I don't notice it quite as much...

For context, I am now in the top left of HERE:

Living in a bright top floor duplex we deffos don't notice the lack of light as much compared to the big old house we used to live in, but its still fucking horrible

I feel slightly ill and I'll be honest I'm fucking DONE with winter.

Oh I will say I'm done with the cold. That's one thing different this year- it feels like it's CONSTANTLY about 5-6 degrees here. It's normally into the 10s, I'm sure.

You poor southern thing.

TRY -2Β°

I realised when I said it I would be lambasted for that, but it's all relative, innit? In Riga at the weekend, it was -2 ish and everyone was saying how MILD it was.

Besides, not MY fault you chose to live in a hellhole.

Apparently the December average here is 9Β°. It seems to have been hovering about 6-7Β° for a while.

It feels fine to me - just a bit BITING when combined with wind. The grey and lack of light is affecting me more than the temperature.

Being coastal, the wind chill is ALWAYS a thing here, which, yes, is probably the main issue.

I feel like I have a lot more GLOVE ON OPPORTUNITIES than usual.

Of course, another factor is that I have lost SO MUCH WEIGHT now that my body just isn't used to being DANGEROUSLY THIN at this time of year :disco:

I've been noticeably more SHIVERY too :disco:

I'm normally too hot in bed to have covers fully on me, even at this time of year, but I'm FULL WINTER QUILT and HOT WATER BOTTLE AROUND ME HOOP at this stage :disco:

I'm getting chilblains again :( stupid cold weather.

I had to go get lots of thermals yesterday ready for our South America cruise in January, because I am not having chilblains ruin my holiday

I have retired to the sofa with my laptop to work as I feel grotty and I've been rewarded with a camp as fuck CELEBRITY special of Homes Under The Hammer featuring H from Steps.

40 years today since the Bucks Fizz coach crash :(
Reminds me; someone posted a thread about John Lennon's death called "John Lennon - 44 Years Since He Was Shot Dead" or similar and I posted "you could have broken that a bit more gently". A small number of people got the humour, a few angry yanks didn't. :D

We've come to Great Malvern for the day. Somewhere else neither of us has visited before.

Pleased to say it's a lot more appealing than Andover.

What is it about my brain that, during a particularly sombre moment at my uncle’s funeral, caused it to start replaying Tits on the Radio by the Scissor Sisters, a song I’ve not through about in years? Why was that going round and round my head while I was telling people I was sorry for their loss?

Was he a fan of tits and/or radios? Maybe it's what he would have wanted. πŸ«‚

I haven't decided what to have for Christmas dinner yet.

I've seen a recipe for parsnips cooked with chorizo and sherry that I'd really like to try, so am thinking with all that going on, perhaps relatively plain chicken or turkey is the way forward.
