WHEN is she going to come back to save us all? [aka M15 thread]

Honestly though it's been like nearly TEN years since Madame X ffs
Some of us girls are getting long in the tooth and we can't wait this long for new material

In all seriousness though, I do believe this is the longest gap between albums she has had in her entire career. Of course she got sick and there was the tour etc. but I blame this doomed biopic for the delay and lack of focus on new music. What happened to those sessions with Max Martin and Stuart Price? Clearly she was working on new material.

Unless it's more dreaded reimaginings/remixes of her older material a la Hung Up On Tokischa or whatever.

I was wondering where she was, and that it had been a while. Then I remembered Trump was coming back, so one past it, loud mouthed, elderly, egotistical cunt is more than enough.

Hate to say it, but the age thing is surely a factor. People do become less prolific/ able to juggle so many things. Most artists "slow down" and maybe even Madonna.

Of course, she's still doing WAY MORE than 90% of people, but I just don't think we can expect an album every 2-3 years anymore.

I agree to an extent.. I was just thinking that she's quite similar to Bowie in that sense - he remained relatively prolific but then I just had a look at his discography and yes of course, the gaps between albums got significantly longer as he got into his 50s and 60s...

And then I realised that Bowie was 69 when he died. And Madge is now 66.

FUCK!

Even if it was just a Christmas album, or an album of Doris Day covers I'd be happy! Just anything to have something new from her.

I’ve always wanted a jazz album BUT with Gags all over that I doubt we ever see one

There was a point where an 'unplugged' could have been the absolute tits, probably around Ray Of Light. Not so much now tho'.

The gap between the new Manic Street Preachers album and the last one is almost enough to fit their first 4 albums in. If you remove the 6 months they took off when Richey disappeared, it first with change. It happens to every band/artist. And it's fine.

a new Madonna album might be close to the last thing I want from her at this point.

You should really just be hoping that she doesn’t pull a Kate Bush and decide to have a nice sit down rather than recording any new music.

No thank you and no thank you.

I want just one proper nice pop song from her please.

It can be a passion Buzz single. No guest features, no (overdone) autotune, no CHA CHA CHA etc.

Just a well written, well sung Madonna pop song.

Oh and a middle 8.

well the evidence of the last 3 albums hardly screams we need more. or the random songs/collabs of the last couple of years which were all awful.

the tea is she hasn't made a great album in 19 years at this point.

Absolutely not the case. Rebel Heart was full of great, no nonsense pop songs. Even MDNA had some great songs on it.
And Madame X was a very good album start to finish.
I refuse to accept this as 'tea'.

All of which actually agrees with @Jark's point that she hasn't made a great album in 19 years :D

Hard Candy had flashes but was weak
MDNA was fairly rubbish
Rebel Heart had flashes but overlong
Madame X was good, but still not "great"

I suppose if we're being literal then, yes, she hasn't made a 'great' album in 19 years. Gosh I feel old now!

In which case... I still think she has at least one GREAT album left in her.

I wouldn't MIND if she was busy doing anything else WORTHWHILE

I guess she's busy with her family and that's LOVELY. But if still want to be a VISUAL ARTISTÉ, maybe less time on Instagram and more time in the studio creating the stuff you're better at to go with the crap reels...

She might not have released a great album for years, but she's had enough good/great songs to convince me that she's still got more in her. And still has something to say.

I mean I reserve the right to roll my eyes at her as much as any lapsed loon, but I'll always be here for it.

I believe she has one great album left in her if she puts the work/focus in, but I wouldn't say I necessarily expect it from anything she releases any time soon.

I could see her being capable of a Ray of Light equivalent for her autumn years, or something perhaps more conceptual and experimental (like Madame X kind of was, but more elevated)

I think it's going to be hard for her because she's very obviously lost her own instincts for what sounds good and what people want from her, and she's shown precious little inclination/capacity to take creative direction from others. I suspect the major barrier to her having the kind of revival that Kylie is currently experiencing isn't so much her age as the fact that she's constantly getting in her own way.

I think my biggest thing is - don't bother if you're not going to do the vocals properly. we know she can still sing and do so WELL. more songs with shoddy cut and paste vocals, first-take crow vox that should've been re-recorded, random glitches, messy use of vocal tuning to iron out flaws, etc ETC can't be tolerated at this point. relax with the autotune as a stylistic EFFECT. and then fix the mixing and mastering so that the songs actually sound pristine.

maybe Stuart Price is the man for the job. looking back can be questionable but at least he knew how to produce songs and her vocals to perfection.
