Friday gets drunk and photocopies its boobs

I don’t have to worry about any of that these days. I did however take Vera out for a meal before I came back to Ireland and she even wore a Christmas jumper and festive earrings which I thought was quite cute.

No one’s paying for my drinks  Apparently one of the consultants put some cash behind the bar last year so I hope they turn up again.

Who decides and actually agrees on these things? :o
I wasn't consulted, it was the lady with the biggest gob who convinced everybody else one day I was off and then I was presented with a done-deal. My actual reply to "so we're doing a country and western night at *names hotel* and we'll be line-dancing, you'll come won't you?" was "not while my arse points south, thanks anyway though".

To think in a previous life, I was the young one always tasked with arranging it. It was always a bit of a ballache, but I never needed to resort to country and western. Or fancy fucking dress.

I just need to swerve the Secret Santa at work on Monday after today. Then I think I'll be free of all festive obligations that I don't feel slightly inclined to engage with.

The JOYS of being self employed now means no forced fun work parties.

The last time I worked in an office they booked one of those big halls (so big it’s open to other companies as well - VILE) with set festive menus and live entertainment. They booked a Bon Jovi tribute act.

Naturally I didn’t go.

The money they must spend on these things that nobody wants! Just make a massive kitty and send everyone down the pub!

Our Christmas party is on January 7th and consists of an escape room, karaoke, live music and dancing.

Do people have them after Christmas because they left it too late to get a date that wasn't a Tuesday in November, or in some misguided 'January is always boring, let's have it then!!!' belief?

Christ knows January is depressing enough without having to contemplate socialising with people I have no interest spending any time with unless I'm being paid to be in their company.

We had ours in January twice before. Mostly due to cost, and then married it in to include people who didn’t want to celebrate it as “Christmas”. We have a few very lovely Jehovah’s Witnesses at work and it’s nice to include them.

That's fine - but then it very consciously isn't a Christmas do, and I'd pick a time a little more pleasant than January.

Mine was yesterday, I didn't go but I did POP INTO THE OFFICE for a GLASS OF FIZZ and to PICK UP A GIFT OF A YULE LOG @Martha Skidd

That might be the HIGHLIGHT of Christmas this year: from here on into the New Year it's just ME and MR FRUITLOOPS

I actually quite enjoy Christmas parties usually. Sorry Mopsy! If someone wants to ply me with paid-for alcohol and mediocre mass-catering, I'm all for it.

I particularly am pro this year, on account of our USA-based corporate overlords being mightily displeased that the UK had "gone rogue" and organised one. So I'm seeing it as our little Luigi moment, albeit we are murdering budgets rather than executives.

It is because I work in the restaurant industry and we are chock-a-block in the lead up to Christmas.

I've decided to take myself to a new Greek cafe/bakery for a Christmas party for one instead.

I'm not sure how authentic my sweet treat was (@Merryna Santy 🧑🎄 to confirm), but it tasted a lot more delicious than it looked.

I missed my holiday party because I was sick, which I can’t say I was too upset about. I’m going to a white elephant potluck (dips only) tonight and I need to buy a gift and make a dip still

I SPOKE TOO SOON! My WICKED NEW STEPMOTHER has just sent me some CHEESE TRUCKLES :sour::square::zombie:

Mandy's on her other work Christmas party today in the same town as my shop. And she decided to bring half the team in (15 plus people) to the shop, all drunk 🤦🏻‍♀️

I made her go and buy me a gin in a tin to drink while I was working.

Is dips only code for BOTTOMS ONLY?

While getting a haircut, Take A Chance On Me came on the satellite radio and the girl cutting my hair said “that’s probably one of those TikTok songs” and I just smiled and said probably lol
