Twas the Sunday before Christmas...

Won't lie, I'm not feeling remotely Christmassy. I've had quite a bit of new music come in so I haven't found room for an festive listening. Maybe by the time I've had the Muppets on, it'll hit me.

I’ve been cooking. Chicken liver pate, a Coca Cola ham, two cakes iced and a big bolognaise for tomorrow. Family arrive tomorrow, so need to be ready.

Although Mr Sheena’s family have been their usual level of annoying, changing plans until the last minute.

OH YES, DECIDE YOU’RE GOING HOME CHRISTMAS NIGHT WHEN I’VE BOUGHT YOU ALL FOOD FOR TWO MORE DAYS BEYOND THAT.

My main worry now is looking at the fridge and wondering how the fuck we'll manage to eat it all.

I suspect we'll cope.

We're not having guests until the 28th and we have enough for a family.

*dies*

I just saw a video of a guy fucking a gingerbread house so it’s officially the Christmas season

I would have preferred a vid of a ginger being bred but that’s a totally different topic

My main family Christmas will be Boxing Day, when we'll all be descending on my mum, and I think everyone has said they will be there, which will be a challenge in a two bedroom flat.

I just know that at some point tomorrow or Tuesday I'll be asked to go to Tesco to pick her up more bits.

I do not miss my Mum’s panicked 4pm Christmas Eve phone call EVERY YEAR with “WE HAVEN’T GOT ANY xxx” and a cry for me to go hunting for it.

xxx- insert pointless, unnecessary item here, which on more than one occasion has been “HEINZ TOMATO PICKLE”.

We threw a belting party last night and now I’m packing for Spain and a 4am start tomorrow. I’m happy about going away and that but fucking hell, I need a lie down.

I've already told her not to get stressed about it, it's Boxing Day, nobody really gives a shit about food that much, and they'll all eat whatever is put in front of them. She's got a fridge and freezer full of stuff, yet is still in a panic about not having enough.

It's our last night before Christmas food properly kicks off. And last night was an astonishing amount of party food and booze.

Cleaning the gutter out yesterday seems to have made the leaking back door worse, maybe the leaves were stopping the rain. I've spent today making ingenious water-catchers out of gaffer tape, weird plastick/polystyrene insulation sheets I had from when refrigerated dog-medicine was posted to me and tupperware that never gets used for anything because it's too big.

As for Christmas, I'm going shopping tomorrow and not sure I can be arsed with a tree or decorations. I'd rather just ignore it and hope it goes away.

That's infuriating.

Will you be seeing GrandSpawn for Xmas?

We went tescos today which was hideous, but at least we're stocked up. No real need to leave the house for the next few days now.
We still need a bit of veg. Not sure what. I've got parsnips and carrots, so really I just want something green for the plate. I've told Mr L to just get whatever he fancies, which I suspect will be broccoli.

Have you got your family coming too? I always prefer to keep the two separate :D

I’m back at my parents house who are looking after their friend’s dog which is the most ANXIOUS dog I’ve ever met. I can’t go near it but it won’t stop STARING AT ME and looking like it’s about to BURST INTO TEARS. I’ve already HAD IT with HER and she’s here ALL WEEK!

I do hope the dog signs up to moopy

It's bonkers what the supermarkets are doing with the veg. And people are going for it. Because pretty much everything else I picked up yesterday seemed considerably more expensive than last year, but all I remember is my 2p parsnip.

Yes our bill was huge. But we worked on a policy of saying yes to everything.

We head on the journey back to Scotland tomorrow like THE NOT SO BRADY BUNCH. 16 of us flying over ( usually they get the boat as my sister in law is a nervous flyer but I put my foot down, it is 40 minutes up and down). I don’t really need to do much this year as I don’t have to cook so I am likely going to have a MERRY MERRY CHRISTMAS. :santa:

That's infuriating.

ISN’T IT JUST? And this has been going on the entire organisation period. “I’m coming”, “oh but now I’m not”, “oh we’re not sure if we’re all coming so let’s hold on long enough that nowhere can take a woman in a wheelchair” ETC ETC.

Does my tits in. Though I’m glad most of them are fucking off on Christmas night. We’ll only have Mr Sheena’s Dad post Christmas Day now…
