Patrick Wolf - Crying The Neck (new album)

TERRIFIC NEWS. And, on first play, a great comeback.

Mad that this is his first studio album in 13 years. I hope he's doing well personally, too.

LOVE "Dies Irae", going to be a really strong comeback album if the rest is as good.

Sad to read of his struggles over the years, hoping he's in a better place mentally these days.

Omg what kinda blast from the past! 'The Childcatcher' blew my mind back in the day, and I had the first three albums on constant loop at one stage during uni. I remember being sure 'The Magic Position' was gonna be a massive hit but I must've given it some sorta spicey kiss of death. And then I just kinda lost interest and thereafter forgot that he even existed. :/

Is there anything in particular worth investigating from the last three records? Aside from the aforementioned, I vaguely recall loving 'Bloodbeat', 'The Libertine', 'Augustine', 'Paris', 'Tristan' looking at the early tracklists. More of that plz.

Anyway, I like 'Dies Irae' and am all ears for this comeback which aligns perfectly with my current era of embracing relics from life's annals. :disco:

Halfway through listening to this album for the first time. So far it's giving 2000s-esque alternative anthems put through a New Romantic 80s filter. I'm getting hints of ABC & LLOYD COLE - no bad thing. A strong comeback so far, favourite track midway through - "Reculver"

Yeah the album is great! I wasn’t a fan of the “Night Safari” EP so my expectations were a bit dampened but I am loving the sounds here.

I've always wondered how he feeds himself - he never sells anything - does he have a rich 'uncle' David? Perhaps 'uncle' David coo's soothing waveforms when Patrick gets frightened by fireworks?
