I’m seeing it on Wednesday so super excited now after everyone’s loving it

Yes, it made me cry.

Also loved the sea shanty, the opening number, and the cheery mortician.
 
I saw Mincemeat a year ago yesterday and thank God for Titanique, but I worry that the only way is now DOWN

The Comedy About Spies isn’t quite Titanique, but it’s still very very fun. Maybe just as good as their last The Comedy About a Bank Robbery show.

I mentioned before, but I found Operation Mincemeat to be a little too smug and pleased with itself to enjoy it on the same level.
 
Cockfosters is very funny. Not quite Mischief Theatre levels or Titanique funny, but for £12 and 70 minutes it gave us a lot of laughs.

The programme is a free Metro and there’s a “busker” playing Wonderwall as you walk in.

Saw Titanique last night and it was fabulous, as expected. Much gayer than I had thought as well, there were a few confused straight faces with some of the jokes so I’m glad it’s doing so well and not just confined to our lot only.

Something happened midway through though and our Celine got switched :o

The music of Hadestown was indeed great (especially "Wait for Me" which felt like the big song, I was surprised it wasn't the end of the first half and is one I'll definitely go back to outside the show). The show was great too, but I was helped by my other half explaining the Greek myth during the interval, so I was able to follow along with the second half easier and think I would enjoy the whole thing more on a second viewing. One I'd recommend for sure.

Just been to see this off the back of this recommendation (and that I absolutely had to go and see a show about the tube once I'd heard about it), and it was SO good. Think my highlights were the American tourists, the rap battle to debate North/South, and the quiz (they should've asked me the questions, I knew them both - although off the top of my head I couldn't think of which station features every vowel). I also loved getting told the Piccadilly line is experiencing severe delays whilst everyone was in the bar area waiting for the auditorium to open :D I took my copy of the Retro away, although I did see a place to return them whilst leaving.

And very randomly, one of my good friends who I used to work with at TFL and meet up with a couple of times a year, was at the same performance a few rows in front.

Where were the £12 tickets available? Did TodayTix rip me off with £27, it appeared to be the same price no matter the seat :angry:

Loved all of those parts, especially the rap battle and the delays announcement. And the very end when they keep telling people to hurry up and leave!

The £12 tickets were exclusive to the first preview. Southwark Playhouse always do a “Pioneers Preview” where tickets are anywhere between £8-15. Sometimes it does mean things go wrong or get delayed, but mostly it doesn’t.
 
Took a half day today to see a matinee of The Deep Blue Sea with Tamsin Grieg and Hadley Fraser. They’d been offering serious serious discounts over the last couple of weeks.

It was really rather excellent, particularly the central performances. Very emotional and totally worth £20 for a premium seat.
 
I've just seen "Here We Are" which has a great cast but is very obviously unfinished, and tbh I preferred the half without songs to the half with.

I’m seeing it next weekend!

It can’t be worse than The Mad Ones which I’ve just seen at The Other Palace. It’s rare I’d say this about a musical, but TOO MUCH SINGING.
 
Just been to see this at my local. Very very good. Can usually rely on Jez Butterworth to be entertaining.

I'm seeing "Here We Are" at the National tomorrow. Looking forward to Jane Krakowski most of all, and general bafflement at the rest of it.

The Frogs at the Southwark Playhouse was RATHER fun. I didn’t know what to expect and it sounded quite tedious. First act better than the second though, very meta and with a lot of updated theatre references.
 
Ooh, that piqued my interest the other day when I saw that it's starring Artie from Glee, so I think that's enough for me to take the plunge.

I went to two shows within two days earlier this week, properly felt like I was in my @Ellie era. Saw The Mousetrap as I had nothing to do with a day off, and decided to see which shows have a Tuesday matinee, and I'm currently obsessed with the Murdle puzzle books so thought why not see the real life version. The humour and characters were alright and I didn't manage to guess whodunit, but I think the first half was better because Mrs Boyle was one of the more amusing characters, along with Christopher Wren. (do we need to use spoilers for something that's been around 70 years? I'm not taking chances, they do ask to keep the story within the theatre after all)

Then I saw Wicked on Wednesday for the first time since a school trip in 2011, bought fourth row seats during a London Theatre Week sale as something to look forward to at a time when post-Eurovision depression would be hitting. The first act feels like it really races through the plot and the songs compared to the movie! Very pleased with the amount of Fiyero in the second act (for 'Wicked: For Good' reasons ofc)
 
@Jacques The other day at The Mad Ones my friend ran in to an old friend of his that he hadn’t seen for a while.
Apparently she tries to see 120 separate theatre shows per YEAR!

I’m sure all the professional theatre bloggers also do that, but I keep wondering how that’s even possible. I probably do 1-2 per week, give or take. And I can’t lie, but a lot are repeat viewings of stuff I love if a deal is on, or if I’m trying to get someone else to see it for the first time, and occasionally there are quiet months. 120 new shows a year though :o
