The modmin team have had some feedback from posters about how things have been playing out on the forum the past few months, and how to ensure both fairness and a zero tolerance approach for bullying and abusive behaviour.

We think it will be useful to set out more formally our thinking for when we will place posters on pre-moderation, that is, when a mod needs to manually approve a post before it can be seen publicly (the mode that Inner Smile is currently on).

Any poster who receives three formal warnings for bullying, abusive behaviour, or other similar inappropriate behaviour will be subject to pre-moderation. Formal warnings of this nature will have to be agreed by the majority of the staff team, and won't be issues by a single moderator or admin to reduce the risk of personal biases or vendettas coming into play. This will be in place for one month, or longer if the mod team agree that there is good reason to extend it.

We'd also like to remind posters to use the report function whenever there are issues with specific posts. Modmins don't read every post in every thread, so it is best to flag anything that you think we should be aware of. Reports are private between the mod team and whoever raises the report. Any repeated, targeted misuse of reports however may also result in a warning.

Hopefully of course none of this needs to come into play and we don't need to place anyone else into post approval, but again, given that a number of posters have reached out to the modmin team recently, we thought collectively it was a good idea to set this out.

Do we have a definition on what "bullying, abusive behaviour, or other similar inappropriate behaviour " actually comprises? I think that's important (which may just be in our T&Cs but no idea...)

We have this, though glancing through I can already see it will need updated

This is VERY MUCH targeted at me, because VoR is desperate to moderate my every word. Absolutely obsessed that one. I wish I was making it up, but he's said as much.

Sorry love, I've now blocked Inner Smile, so it looks like you won't be getting exclusive previews of all my exciting posts, THAT SOON anyway.

Or you could just own up to the fact that you made some nasty posts that weren't warranted, accept that several people weren't happy with them and do better, rather than deflecting and passing it off as VoR having a go, which it clearly isn't.

Inner Smile's posts were annoying and forum clogging, but I'd rather have that than antagonistic bullying whenever you happen to be hungover.

I already have acknowledged them. I don't see why I need to do it again, for the sake of certain posters getting their thrill seeing me be humble when I don't especially feel that way, unlike in the past. I'm sure that will aggrevate certain posters, but I honestly don't care. It always ends in a VoR led pile-on, and I can't be arsed with that.

And yes he's always there clogging up the forum when I am hungover. It's like having roadworks in your room when you're hanging.

Sorry if this isn't the answer you wanted, but I'm not pandering over this. I know I'm a better person than I was before, I know some things won't change and I will slip up, but I try not to.
