My mother had it on yesterday when I was up there, and she said it wasn't so exciting ( :eyes: ) having it on once a week.

In fact she forgot it was on at all for about 20 minutes due to the day change - were they running scared of Eurovision?

So they changed to Sunday this week? I would assume they must have been hiding from Eurovision. I haven’t really been watching.

What figures did Eurovision get?
 
The FA cup final was on both BBC and ITV but kicked off at 4:30 (which was the reason given for BGT being moved) but would have theoretically finished at around 7:05pm at the latest so I would say they moved BGT to stop it being buried by Eurovision

Doesn't appear to have been an entirely successful decision

 
I would have thought it will end up with similar figures to last weeks chart? It got 4.8 million last week so would say it will likely reach that figure again once everything else is added on?

Thinkbox (the website which breaks down the viewing) unfortunately hasn't updated since the last week of March. But if you look at the episode of BGT in that week, it added 0.93m over the week on top of the overnight figure.

I guess it's possible this one may add more, particularly if people were caught out by the change of day and then seek it out on ITV player.

I think it is a family show mainly. A lot of families I know still watch with the kids so that may well be a Saturday night thing rather than seeking out an episode they have missed so possibly not.
 
Wasn’t sure where to put this but I see LORRAINE and LOOSE WOMEN are getting their episode lengths cut in HALF, and will only be broadcast 30 WEEKS of the year due to ITV CUTS. :o

That's the BBC1 figure only for The FA Cup Final. The ITV broadcast didn't make the top 50 programmes of the week.
 
So that episode of BGT picked up 1 million viewers in the 7 days prior? It really is dying a death ( not a slow one either).

Seems so. I'm also assuming it's probably the lowest rating episode ever?
 
It's interesting looking at the viewing figures for the last few years of BGT that the show invariably returns to a strong audience (admittedly getting progressively less strong), then falls consistently through the run into the semi finals, before getting a bit of an uptick for the final.

I don't THINK that X Factor had the same pattern.

On overnight figures, Antiques Roadshow beat it, although that has very little catch up audience and BGT overtook it with catch up added. But then it lost out to Code Of Silence on the night including catch up.

From memory I think X Factor was coming back to lower figures for every series opener then dropping right through.
 
I may have a look on Wikipedia later if I get sufficiently bored.

It's interesting though - it's like people are keen to see it back, but then lose interest in it as it progresses. It certainly didn't happen for the last series of Strictly, which held up throughout its run. Looks like it did for IACGMOOH, although not to the same degree. I guess being broadcast over 3 weeks or so every night possibly helps maintain momentum.
 
Strictly is a strange one as it has very much remained UP THERE regardless of what scandal has occurred. Some may argue it is a better made programme but like the others it is very much same old same old every year and I wouldn’t say it is all that popular with younger viewers either?
 
If anything I'd say Strictly is MORE same old same old every year than any of the others - I wonder if it's the refusal to fundamentally change anything about it which makes it so resilient and comfortable to watch.

I'm sure the audience would survive Tess getting her P45 though.
 
BGT has changed. The amount of GOLDEN BLOODY BUZZERS allowed now bamboozles me.X Factor also never stuck to the same set up every year and always had a tweak or two, so yeah it very well could be just that.

Strictly is very much incremental change only. I guess that makes it a very reassuring watch. If anything I think it has maybe changed less in terms of presentation in the last five years than any time before that.

I don't know, but this chart includes viewing pre-broadcast in any case.
 
I've stuck with it but Code of Silence has felt a bit like Protection in terms of far fetched plot and central characters acting especially ridiculously.
 
It looks like it did all drop at once - but is losing viewers quite heavily
