ABBA Voyage: The Concert Residency – CONTAINS MAJOR SET LIST SPOILERS

I have noticed the marketing for this being more aggressive than usual for the last couple of months so I'm guessing ticket sales are declining to a point where changing up the setlist feels worthwhile.

I haven't noticed anything more in terms of promo, apart from the usual bit of a flurry whenever they release new tickets. Is there more in London?

But yes, I suspect there's a reason they are choosing now rather than the first or second anniversary.
 
I've not noticed a change in London marketing either tbh.

Perhaps Pingu's had a birthday that moved him into the middle aged / older queen demographic, and now reaps the benefits of being a PRIME TARGET for the ABBA Voyage marketing team

Had anyone seen the confirmed new songs? I'm seeing conflicting info both in terms of what they are - and one being removed?

Super Trouper and Name Of The Game added.

When All Is Said And Done replaced with Money Money Money which feels like a bizarre swap.

Also apparently last night’s rehearsal audience got to see a Take A Chance On Me performance which is an alternate they can swap in in place of Super Trouper.

OK actually it seems that it's The Name Of The Game that's taken the place of When All Is Said And Done, and Money Money Money comes later, which does make a bit more sense.
 
Apparently Frida sang Like An Angel Passing Through My Room with Elvis Costello in the lounge after the show.
 
I've been considering going again soon due to the new setlist, but the weekend shows are £104.50 for standing tickets well into August, before they reduce to £77 when booked through the main Voyage website, which seems to be the kind of 'standard' price - or at least what I've paid most times when booking.

However, I had an email from the Members Hub which said as 'an extended anniversary celebration' there are dancefloor tickets for £55 available, and sure enough via the link in that email, we got those exact same £104 tickets for £55 :disco:.

It looks like those tickets are available for all shows except both Saturday ones.

Voyage #8 completed.

Surprising what a difference the three new tracks made. We had Super Trouper rather than Take A Chance On Me. Interesting to see how they have been slotted in. I thought Money Money Money worked the best of the three we saw and possibly had the best reaction. TNOTG certainly had the weaker reception of the new ones.

The new mix/arrangement of Don't Shut Me Down is noticeably different. It plays up the lilting reggae lite notes of it at the expense of a meatier pop production. Not entirely sure I'm a fan.
 
I think it looks like the £35 dancefloor tickets for 16 -25 year olds and social media ads squarely aimed at younger people seems to be paying off. It was definitely the highest proportion of that age range I've seen in the audience yet.
 
The Don’t Shut Me Down arrangement has always been pretty different to the studio version (I assumed it maybe hadn’t been completed when they did the show arrangements or something). Is this a different version again? It doesn’t sound like a change for the better if so.
 
Don't get me wrong, I'd say the largest single demographic is still markedly Gen X female, but there was a definite improvement in the number of younger people generally. Probably all the more noticeable just because there have been so few of them when I've been before.

Definitely sounds quite different to me.

Have you heard or read if there's a pattern to when we get Super Trouper or TACOM? Not that it massively matters, but I'd prefer to book my next trip for TACOM.

I’m sure there is some sort of a pattern, but none that I’ve seen anybody deciphering yet.

They do seem to have been doing Super Trouper more though.

Were you at the SAME VIEWING as me?! Good LORD

Anyway it was my first viewing (FINALLY) and I was rather delighted and blown away by the whole thing! (particularly The Name of the Game getting into the setlist).

Only two critiques. I thought them going for an animation segment for Voulez Vous really took the life out of a really obviously hot track. And I do think they really ought to GROW UP and cut one or two of the newer tracks by this point, which clearly got a shrug from just about everyone. Or, at the very least, put them in slightly more obvious a piss break slot.

I'm also not sure I've ever heard more Australian accents in my life!
 
As much as I love it, I feel like Don't Shut Me Down would be such an obvious cut, as it really does kill the atmosphere stone dead. I bet it's only still in there because that's the one Agnetha recorded an intro for and there's no way in hell they're getting her back to re-record.
 
I think the removal of WAISAD and inclusion of other more crowd friendly singalong tracks only exposes the two new ones more, although I think Don't Shut Me Down fares better than I Still Have Faith In You.
