Lorde - “What Was That” + ‘Virgin’

Solid debut for Lorde on the Billboard 200, hopefully it doesn’t plummet.
1. Morgan Wallen 173,000 (sales 7500)
2. Lorde 71,000 (sales 42,000)
3. Kpop Demon Hunters 62,000 (sales 4500)
4. KATSEYE 44,000 (sales 30,000)
5. Karol G 40,000
6. Morgan Wallen 40,000
7. SZA 39,000
8. Playboi Carti 35,000 (sales 16,500)
9. Sabrina Carpenter 33,000
10 Russ 32,000 (sales 25,000)

Despite performing better in sales, Lorde lost to Morgan? So Streams really fuck her up, didn't they
I don’t think she was ever going to outperform Morgan, given that she was 100k behind SPS. Her streaming wasn’t stellar after day one but still a marked improvement from Solar Power so not sure we could have expected more. We have to remember her last hit here was “Team” in 2014 and “Green Light” to a lesser extent a few years later.

Father's Daughter, Current Affairs and If She Could See Me Now are phenomenal.

the rest is ok, might grow on me.

Current Affairs has such excellent verses, some of the best here but that chopped and pitched chorus moment stops it being great, it feels a bit too 2017.

I think it's a super solid album but unlike Melodrama doesn't have tons of individual highlights to cherry pick from. I'd add the first five songs to my praise the Lorde playlist.

I've been really loving this record all summer. it's a lush mood piece. and it's almost a no-skip that goes down so easily in one sitting.

What Was That is also right up there with her best

I never managed to get into this album. Man Of The Year is by far the worst song I have heard this year.

cunty! the setlist for this is absolutely EXCELLENT. many fan faves and a surprise appearance for my beloved Pure Heroine bonus track No Better :disco:

it’s not my favorite of hers but kind of shocking she left out Solar Power too.

I think it's the least shocking thing in the world that Solar Power will never be mentioned again :D
