I get the joke, but I always find this concept utterly ridiculous. We should celebrate the opposite- finding actual broadcasters rather than celebrities. (I realise also Castle’s “actual broadcaster” credentials are rather thin…)

Jeanette Kwakye has become just about the best overall sports presenter to come from athletics without being a superstar name as she went away post- career, studied broadcast journalism and learned from the ground up. Throwing in “stars” is not always the right way (though their voices should equally be heard, I agree).

I know we’re just messing. If he was a vaguely decent broadcaster, it wouldn’t be mentioned.

I know you/ they were messing, just thought it was a point worth making.
 
This is all coming from the failed (sports) journalist I wanted to be growing up- well, more didn’t even try than failed.

It's fine when you get someone in like Sam Smith who achieved little of note outside the Wimbledon 4th round in 1998 to anchor the matches, but Castle is an insufferable tit who offers little of insight on top of his lack of on court success.

I just think the twitter post (funny as it might be) misses the point.
 
OT: I really like Jeanette too. Maybe bring her over for the tennis anchoring. She’s often on Radio 5 covering the breakfast show as a host when one of the main presenters is away and does a good job so I think the studying after her competitive career has paid off so well for her. However, she was also an Olympic finalist in her discipline so her credentials still piss all over AC.

She was also a World indoor medalist, but she isn’t near the level of the BBC’s usual “let’s throw a microphone at that star and see if it sticks”…
 
The last couple of points of the first and second set were GREAT.

The rest was cagey with neither of them playing well, let alone playing well at the same time.
 
Carlos has developed a habit like Federer did much later in his career in which his concentration goes walkabouts. He should not have lost that first game.
 
Too wishy washy from Alcaraz. His serve has been as bad as it was in the match with Fognini.

I repeat...what a ROTTEN look for tennis. Two drug cheats who got off with RIDICULOUSLY lenient bans win Wimbledon with wildly cheering audiences and commentary teams who seem BARELY BOTHERED.
 
:( but EH WELL. Sinner was bound to win Wimbledon at least once in his career.

Between this & the women's event ending on a farcical double bagel in the final, this has been the most disappointing Wimbledon final weekend for me in MANY A YEAR.

"The resilience he's shown this year"
"He's gone through his battles on and off the court"
