Everything about this feels so wholesome and nostalgic. I'm hoping for a shoehorned in younger Stan Lee cameo.

*except for his inability to draw children that didn’t look like old menHah! I can't deny it. I've been such a massive fan of his since the 80s and even have a couple of pages of original art. But yep, his drawings of children were well off! Apparently he's a bit of a git, but I loved his writing and artwork.
Great to see so many good reactions to the movie. I'm SO excited for Thursday and have my seat booked for an IMAX screening. FLAME ON!

Just back from my screening! What did I think? I enjoyed it. I didn’t think it was particularly great but I didn’t think it was bad either. Perhaps my expectations were too high, but nothing about it amazed or surprised me. I’d heard so much about the “incredible” space sequence, but it didn’t really do much for me. There wasn’t a single scene that wowed me or that I felt was thrilling or inventive. At the same time, I didn’t hate anything about it either. The cast were…fine. Nobody particularly leaped out, but I think the script was fairly bland, so there wasn’t an awful lot for them to do. Overall, I’d give it a 7 out of 10.

Stuff I liked:
The fact that it didn’t rely on any other Marvel heroes and films. The standalone nature of it is such a plus. I’m so, so turned off by the multiverse stuff, as are many other regular cinemagoers. This felt much more simple and was all the better for it. I suspect this is the first and last time that will happen sadly.
The look of the film and the sets. But that’s also a slight issue too(see below).
The score is strong. Not as amazing as many are saying, but it’s a proper super heroic and cinematic score. The recent Superman score felt hilariously cheap and thrown together. This was on another level entirely.
The space sequence is visually gorgeous. The Excelsior spaceship is so elegant and beautiful. I could have done with more of that.
It was nice to finally see Galactus as he looks in the comic books.
The first end credits scene was a genuine shocker!
Stuff I didn’t like:
While I liked the look of the film, it all looked a little too “fake” for me. Nothing looked like real people actually live there. Everything was just too perfect and gorgeous.
The humour mostly fell flat for me. There are lots of attempts at wisecracks and jokes, but not a single one landed for me(or for anyone else in the theatre).
I really, really didn’t like how they showed Sue’s powers. She appears to be more of a telekinetic than her powers in the comics. She seems to just lift things or sort of ‘throw force’ at people. It’s not really how I see her powers. There’s a subtle difference between her powers and the powers of a telekenetic and that’s not shown here.I don’t like that rainbow sheen either. I wish for once they’d actually leave her forcefields completely invisible. Yes that’s no doubt difficult to display on screen, but I’d love to see them tackle that as I see it; literally invisible.
The dialogue or Galactus and Silver Surfer. It didn’t feel alien or majestic enough for me. It sounded a little too normal and modern.
The pacing is somehow both too fast and too slow. I never felt any real tension or build-up to events. Stuff seemed to happen very quickly and end just as quickly. As much as I prefer non-bloated runtimes, I felt this film could’ve done with some breathing space. An additional 15 minutes could have made a big difference.
The Natasha Lyonne(whom I love) character seemed shoehorned in and amounted to absolutely nothing.
Sue essentially just shoving Galactus seemed off and underwhelming. They didn’t really beat him with smarts as they often did in the comics. Nope, just by brute force.
I wish Franklin hadn’t been part of their first film and kept to the next film, although he was a very useful plot point.
As nice as it was to see Galactus, I felt he was also done wrong by the film. He said nothing more than a few lines. There was no sense of depth or intelligence whatsoever to his character. They talked about his "hunger", but did I feel it? No. I think the character deserved a lot better.
I was surprised to see Reed be in such agony despite not being stretched THAT much by Galactus. Surely he can stretch a lot more than that?

This was ok... I see the second weekend box office is set to plummet! Which I know is usual for Marvel but expectations were it would hold up better.
I enjoyed it more than the last few Marvel related movies. I see the 80% expected 2nd week drop which is sad BUT they really killed the genre with the last few years of lackluster releases. I did enjoy the mention of classic FF villains.
Visually it’s stunning but there were some scenes where the CGI was a bit off for a major release. I do love the retro look of this world quite a bit.
I give it 8/10.

I liked the production design, but I didn't care for this.
The story was just weird. Why make the one female lead character pregnant straight away? Why have a central romantic couple with NO CHEMISTRY? Why make the villain a giant space paedo?
I only really liked Joseph Quinn of the cast, and I agree with so many of @Kitty's points. Pedro was actively bad IMO. Very little effort or charisma in his performance.
