Why are there so many digs at Nicole over this? I thought it was pretty unanimous that she is phenomenal in the role, but there seems so much bitching?

A few of the other Pussycat Dolls obviously HATE HER, so I think them piping up is just par for the course.

But mostly she got a lot of heat for asking "where do I get this hat?" to Russel Brand's MAGA red Jesus hat.

Yeah I don’t think anyone is questioning the quality of the performance, it’s the fact that she’s MAGA that has understandably caused a lot of friction.

I’m sure I remember her being quite fun when she was first on UK X factor. She’s like a weird fundamentalist Christian Stepford wife now. :(
 
Getting seated for Evita, and so far more than 50% of the audience are coming in with walking sticks and can’t see the letters or numbers for seats as they’re all BLIND. Ushers are pretty much escorting people individually to their seats. This section has one of the oldest crowds I’ve ever seen.

We got Rachel for this Monday thankfully. It was spectacular! Really exceeded expectations. And she might as well have been on stage for DCFMA anyway. They did it so well and made the outside crowd a character of their own :o

The Juan Peron guy was wonderful, but as I was near the back in the first act he had a sleeveless shirt on with his big guns out, and with his haircut to boot, he just looked like Legend from Gladiators :D

Not all that keen on The Great Gatsby. They haven’t skimped on anything with the incredible cast, sets, costumes, choreography etc. jaw on the floor amazing voices, particularly Frances McCann and Rachel Tucker, but that was a given.

The songs? Generic. Unfortunately you can’t really polish a turd, no matter how much talent you throw at it. They committed the same old crime of being shoehorned in to sum up basic plot points without moving anything forward. I forgot every bit of it almost immediately.
 
I saw it in New York and I agree. The set and cast were great, but the songs were nothingy and the whole show's soulless.

Gatsby's also a character who would never burst into song. It's daft seeing him sing big eleven o'clock numbers. The medium didn't match the source material AT ALL
 
Susan Sarandon and Andrea Riseborough at the Old Vic in September :o Granted the play sounds a bit shit (though it is Tracey Letts) but I’ll try for tickets.

Who is she playing? I can't imagine she'd be anything other than horrific in any of the 3 main roles.

Watching a friend hoof around in the ensemble in the glittering West End whilst Jennifer Ellison redefined horror as Roxie really was a whole new level of terror for me. Perhaps SIN giving us her Roxie/Velma/Mary will buck the trend.
 
I was going to go and see Evita again tonight, but £350 a ticket is absurd.

£20 for standing at the back didn't appeal much either :D

No, literally booked it last week through the official site while we were in the interval for The Great Gatsby. I knew the prices would jump up after press night.

I mean it’s at the back of the Royal Circle but still looked like a good view.

I see the exact section now for the same date is now £90 :o

She's done it before and had good reviews. Remember that 1.) She started on stage- she was a theatre girl and 2.) She CAN actually sing. Ok, she ain't gonna carry a lead, but she'll handle this fine.
 
Hi, I have a bit of a free night due to being in LNDN with work and my colleagues all fucking off home so was thinking of maybe taking in a show. I like the idea of:
- Titanique
- The Comedy About Spies
- The Play that Goes Wrong

Any others? I note Titanique had good £50 tickets available and I’m also aware it’s vastly different to the other two. But is one a must see over the others?

All great. But skip The Play that Goes Wrong as it’s been around for 10 years and isn’t going anywhere: there are deals on for that all the time.

The other two are both limited so whatever you can get the best deal for. I’ve seen Titanique and Spies twice and oddly Spies wasn’t as funny the second time around, yet their old Comedy About a Bank Robbery show was a 5 timer for me.

So all in all, Titanique!

Wee Jack had a mic issue on one his numbers but fair play he was still belting it out until they gave him a handheld mic, then Rose’s mum referenced it later on

The new version which is choreographed by, partly composed by, directed by and starring Todrick Hall isn’t much good? :o
 
Absolutely LOVED Evita. Jamie Lloyd's productions are clearly divisive particularly with the musical theatre purists but I thought this was great and Zegler was a revelation for me.
 
Thankfully got comp tickets for this after two weeks of trying whilst nervously watching the prices double over the last fortnight. There were £35 tickets at the back two weeks ago, now even these are £85.

Yep... our £80 tickets are now priced at over 3 times that... insane!
 
I had major FOMO and booked a seat for £95 in the Grand Circle for its last weekend. At least I got a return flight for 45 Euro, I haven't gotten a flight that cheap in years. Now I need to decide what else I'm going to see, preferably on the cheap.

I’d go for something Off West End if you’re looking for something cheaper. It’s a shame Sing Street will be over by then.

A Role To Die For will be ending around the same time at the Marylebone Theatre, or The Daughter of Time at Charing Cross, or Saving Mozart at The Other Palace (which has an excellent cast, so it’s worth risking to see them)

I haven’t seen any of them yet but have tickets soon.
 
I've just looked up current Evita prices for the night I'm going, to see how mad it is. I paid £44 for a few rows back in the stalls (at the very side mind you, so I think marked as potential restricted view). Might keep quiet about that on the night given people a few rows behind might be paying £190

Guess it paid to book before anyone had seen it and to never doubt queen Rachel Zegler. I'm so happy about this reviving her following all that went on with Snow White.
